Could someone with a PC confirm that's its possible to export a 4k Avi file out of Redcine x? Thanks!

Anyone?

AVI's aren't in the export format drop down list in my PC copy of REDCINE-X (Build 17.26152).

In the Export section of the manual it states -

Available (export) formats are DPX, TIFF, OpenEXR, JPEG (MAC), SGI, QuickTime
Wrapper (MAC), QuickTime, Quicktime (Exp), Avid AAF & MXF, R3D Trim,
and BWF. DPX is the default selection.

So, no, REDCINE-X doesn't export AVI files by the look of it.

That would make everything too easy. I wish every camera and software could have an AVI file option.

Thanks guys. Does anyone know if AVI codec is capable of 4K resolution? Or if its limited?

Well Premiere let me start an avi render at 4k (2k source media) so it looks like it may work. I'm exporting a 4k r3d to qt in redcinex so I can try with 4k source (I can't get premiere to work with R3D from my camera for some reason).

Thanks guys. Does anyone know if AVI codec is capable of 4K resolution? Or if its limited?

I just rendered about 3 seconds R3D 4K to AVI, lossles, uncompressed. Windows Media Player plays it a little slow, but it works, it is 4K, I used After Effects CS6.

Here is the info from the file:

length: 00:00:01

Frame width: 4096

Frame height: 2304

Data rate: (Huge!) 1.140.914 kbps

Total bitrate: 1.140.914 kbps

Frame rate: 24 frames/second

total: 648 MB

You can set your bitrate and other settings in AF.

Edit: Quictime plays it better and the image is excellent..

Just fyi, AVI is a container with many different codecs. 4k support is probably down to the specific codec.
You are right, Avi is just a container, and there are several choices in AF for specific codecs you would want to use.. I don't remember which one I used..

in pp6 Uncompressed works, none of the DV codec's will let me change the resolution defaults (maybe they can be unlocked somewhere?), some of the intel and Microsoft codecs work. None of the efficient default avi codecs seem to go higher than 1920 though, which will mean huge files unless someone knows of an add-on codec with decent compression.
