How do you grab frames on set without speeding? I saved one of my keys to the option "save ui screenshot to media" but unfortunately all that's producing is black images with only the settings of the camera at that given moment being visible...

If you're asking what I think you're asking, the answer is RedCine-X. There's a button right underneath the viewer that takes a R3D snapshot; literally creates a 1-frame R3D file based on where your playhead is sitting. There's also a button right next to it to make a non-R3D snapshot. That button creates a still image in a format and place depending on how you have it set up in Preferences.

I've had a lot of fun playing with these stills. Been messing around recently with the tutorial that Juan Melara posted a few weeks back (http://juanmelara.com.au/the-summer-blockbuster-colour-grading-tutorial/), and have been having a hell of a time getting it to work. Finally got it, I think, with the girl laying down. More importantly, Juan posted some tips and tricks on skintones over on another forum, and those have really kicked my grading up a notch.

First, check this out, the guy with the Duct Tape with JUST a Kodak 2383 LUT, nothing else:

The rest have a grade applied. Some I'm happier with than others. Any feedback welcome; really trying to practice grading recently.

these are good exercises for the skinetones.
This shows that RED can 'do well with a good skinetones as opposed to who is telling the outside it sucks or not be good. But with time things will change out there

The color science has come a long way in the last 6+ years. I find that RedColor3 is a way better starting point than RedColor2, which was a much better starting point than RedColor. It used to be harder to get skintones right, and so the conventional wisdom is that "Red sucks with skintones". I had a DP argue with me forward and backward that the Red One MX just looks worse than the Epic, because he could not understand the concept of Metadata, and the Red One didn't have the latest firmware with RedColor3 and RedGamma3 installed.

right Nick,
many do not understand the metadata and then burn the shot in proress without any correction, if we think even now with a lot of DP is difficult to explain this as an answer and say RED sucks. Then when you show them that you can change iso to redo the white balance correct at will without loss of quality remain amazed and wonder if this is' the latest model of RED!?!?!
When you get used to the RAW RED and 'hard to go back ....
