Shooting with Arri Zeiss Master Primes

Hello Red Team,

Just wanted any suggestions / input on the ideal follow focus that would be a great pair to shooting on Master Primes.
Rented the set and are shooting with them for the next couple weeks.
From looking around a bit I found the ARRI FOLLOW FOCUS FF-5 to be a good fit,

The Arri FF5, FF4, or OConnor OFocus's should be fine.

You do want to pair a top of the line lens with a top of the line follow focus

I use Arri LLF-1 - by far the best FF (a lot of) money can buy

The LFF 1 is great but it is not made anymore and therefore I would be careful about buying it if you hire (don't hire it out ever)

FF4 is the standard and is very good and rock solid (albeit a bit boring)

FF 5 cine should be just as good as the ff4 BUT the ones I have seen have a tiny bit more play and it is not always tuneable out.

oconner Cff1 should be really good BUT I have serous doubts about Vitec quality control and would be very careful. We have oconner heads and tried a MB but it has been a disaster. It wasn't expensive so I am not crying about it but he time taken is annoying.

My personal opinion is that unless 'kit' is a bit of a hobby for you always consider buying Arri accessories.

FYI, the OConnor OFocus Mini LW15 Bridge will not slide under fattest part of Master Primes when using a lightweight 15mm rods system. You can still slip it in from the side since the the bridge is a clamp on design. But still rather annoying for an AC. It works fine with Studio rods and a Studio adapter for the OFocus.

The Arri FF4 in LW15 will slip right under, which is much nicer. Obviously Studio 15/19 works just as well. I'd personally go with the Arri.

Agree. Arri is the standard. But, my OConnor works fine on studio rods. No complaints after a year of use in production.
