Hi - i have a scarlet with the OLED EVF and no touch screen - i just prefer to operate from a EVF. I have a Small HD DP6 for my 1st AC. I plugged in and powered up today to prep for a shoot later this week - i was seeing all the menu items in the EVF but not on the screen - what i wanted to see is the sound inputs so i could confirm levels with the recordist - so went into the monitor menu to check what the overlay settings were on - they were set to menu so i changed it to preview - when i left the menu i lost all menu settings in the viewfinder so i am in effect flying blind. The only way i know to reset this is by plugging in a touch screen and following the procedure as laid out in the manual. Luckily i have a friend with an Epic with a touch screen so hopefully can rectify this asap. My main concern is 1) why this has happened and 2)if it happens again and i am nowhere near a touch screen, is there another way to get back my menus? Anyone out there got any ideas? Thanks

closer investigation reveals i am in 'clean mode' - page 228 of the manual says double tap the touch screen but is there another way out of 'clean mode' and how come i have twice managed to unintentionally get into it - any clues?

Hi Jim, as your worst case solution you can always perform a forceupgrade. This will bring back the menues to the EVF/Touch.

Cheers, Ulf

It sounds like you were changing the mode of the wrong monitor. Make sure you have the correct monitor selected on the drop down before making any settings. Also, if you set more than one monitor to Menu mode make sure you visit the Priority tab and make sure the monitor you want to us as the control surface is on the top.

Also, if you ate running 4.0.x or later and only need to check audio levels you can make a custom overlay with audio levels and leave the monitor in Overlay mode.

thanks very much Trente - that is all very helpful info

I've had this happen to me before as well with ACs that are new to the Red. If you have a Redmote and you switch to 'local' control you can access all of the monitor options there as well and bring your menus back.

thanks Justin - might have to invest in a redmote as a cheaper option than the touch screen if this is going to be a frequent occurence
