  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

My LAST Scarlet music video..."Incredible"

Thanks guys.

For lenses I had the following:

Tokina 11-16mm
Canon 24-70L II
Canon 70-200L II
Canon 100mm Macro L

Funny enough, my 24-70 was damaged on the first day so half the video was shot on a crappy stock canon 18-50mm that one of our photographers had. Aside from being a bitch to focus with, it held up pretty well.

Had a polarizer and NDs for the exteriors and mostly bare lens on interiors in the bathroom for a really raw look. I knew I was going BW with that stuff from the beginning.

Shot a bunch in 1k for the watery effects. Still cut well into 1080p when blown up 150%.

Most of the slowmo was 4k 30fps and 3k 48fps.

I wanted to cut everything in Premiere, but it's just not responsive enough for me. Made more sense for me to transcode for a night into prores lt and cut everything in FCP7, which I know like the back of my hand. The conform to Premiere is pretty seamless. Then some touchup in After Effects and most of the grading with Colorista 2. Film Convert plugins on the BW stuff. Tough to see some of it on youtube but looks fantastic on my big screen.

You can still see me in some of the reflections in the bathroom tile, though I masked and blurred it a bit so it's not too noticeable. Also made sure to wear the same thing as the actor so that also helped.

I love the angles of a lot of your shots. Great work. Have fun with the Epic!

Thanks! I had fun on this one. Lately I've had to do projects that were so rushed that I was pretty much forced to jazz them up with special effects. It was nice to take a step back and just focus on cinematography to sell it.
