I tried searching for this but didn't come across anything that answered my question. I was also unsure which topic this best fit (moderators please move this is this is the wrong place).

I'm on vacation in Los Angeles (from England) until early June and would love to see Red Studios Hollywood whilst I'm here. I remember seeing posts in the past regarding visits and the general response from the guys at Red was very welcoming.

I'm not a Red camera owner but I am a huge fan of the company and what it's achieved. Owning a Scarlet, or equivalent, is one of my long term goals.

The last thing I want to do is turn up at RSH unannounced and waste peoples' time, as well as my own.

If anyone has any advice on best etiquette for visting RSH please let me know.

Also any information on potentially seeing some of their latest tech (it would be awesome to see something on RedRay or any of their new products from NAB 2013, such as the Motion Mount although I know this is probably unlikely) would be hugely appreciated.

Best wishes to all,

Chris Park-Kennaby

as long as you ask for a slot in advance it should be no problem... I just wouldn't do it without asking as they rent out the studio-space to others and as they may have no time for you if they don't know when and/or why you come. So I'd just shoot them an Email asking what's possible...

edit: what about the UK-Studios btw?

Just a little bit about me. I graduated from Film School (The Arts University in Bournemouth, England), specialising in Cinematography, last summer. I was 'the guy' on my course that advocated digital cinematography despite being on a course that still shot on solely on 16mm film.

Feel free to see my work here:

Dancing in the Ashes (I'll need to take this down in a day or two as this isn't public yet but the temporary password is: reduserviewing)

Fair Belles

Lastly I love the community that's grown here. I've been following since 2007/8 but only posted infrequently.

All the best,

I've met Alan Piper in the past but my impression has always been that Red Studios Hollywood has the 4k theatre and is more geared towards demonstrative and exhibition purposes. Maybe not?

It's also just somewhere I would love to visit whilst I'm here.

I'll shoot them an email now!

I don't have first hand-infos so I can't say anything official but just send them an Email - they are usually pretty nice people to talk to and I'm sure they can tell you more :)

You could call and ask:

Lot of amazing Hollywood history on that lot!
