So, like many other, I have been following the threads and youtube reports religiously since Monday. Going back and forth as to how I want to upgrade the Scarlet....ect. Its been a blast watching it unfold...any totally ruining my work week.

I am not that interested in many things Canon is coming out with these days, with the exception of the Cine glass. Maybe its me, but has Canon been very quite this NAB...or non existent. I am probably not seeing the threads or youtube clips. I am really interested to compare the Xenon lens, Canon Cine Lens...and really bummed out that Zeiss is playing it safe this time around. Would love to see some more of that 55mm.

Any word from Canon? Seems like a relatively tame NAB compared to the hype. The Movi is cool, or coarse RED is crushing it, and some of the LED fresnels are pretty sweet. Beyond that, I am seeming a lot of very familiar things out there. Maybe it hasn't really kicked up yet.

ps...as far as the RED upgrade goes...if you think its a good deal or bad...props to your RED. I have an option and that is a great thing to have.

Red was the only thing that got me excited... All this game changer talk didn't do it for me... And yes, i was hoping Canon or Sony were going to sell me on a new Cinema camera but looks like Red is getting my banks money :)

I am done with buying Canon products. I love my 7Ds/Lenses but RED is just the way to go, ever since I got my Scarlet I get angry everytime I have to use my DSLRs

CANON MAKES GOOD STILL CAMERAS AND LENSES.. VIDEO?? SONY HAS THE NEW ODYSSEY 7Q THAT IS BEING TALKED ABOUT WITH THE 700

Anyone see a booth at NAB? Any links on youtube?

I most definitely shoot mainly RED cameras these days but still have loads of Canon equipment too. Given, not really on my map to purchase anything new from Canon (with the exception of some possible cine glass). Just curious and interested if they have a presence at all at NAB. Haven't really heard anything.

Canon has a big 4K Bacon Cheeseburger at NAB showcasing their 4K cinema offerings and a bunch of stuff about 4K workflow and such. If you're waddling around NAB looking at the various booths and take a look at many of the accessory makers, you'll see Canon's cinema cameras all over the place running with the new firmwares for the 5D3 and their other cameras as well as 4K workflow stuff.

There was a lot of folks that didn't show that much new stuff at NAB this year. I have the impression that they are just at a different phase in their development cycle.
Canon barely showed up, Edelkrone didn't have anything ready yet, and O'Connor - what was that? They had two mylar disks to show which functioned like donuts for a mattebox! Zeiss didn't really have anything new either aside from the anamorphics, everything we had seen before.
I don't know about you, but seeing 17 million videos of the same two Blackmagic products described over and over again in exactly the same way seems to have the opposite effect on me. Rather than wanting to take them home, I now am finding myself just wanting a divorce instead.

Thanks Clayton. As much as I wanted to go this year, I couldn't. That was kind of the impression I got online too. I agree about BM. Though I respect the developments they have made, its no where on my radar and not really interested in it. Pretty solid with the RED workflow and BM track history doesn't seem to be that great with their customers. A little to be desired to say the least.

I was really hoping to see some more great stuff from Zeiss too. I was hoping they would have their 55mm and a few others already in place. Surprised it was just the Zooms and a few others. Nice glass at that...but the Xenars took my interest slightly more. Can't wait to see the CP.2 comparison with the Xenars.

Anyone know any tech specs how the Xenars will stack up?

Strange thread. Canon has a huge presence at NAB. Huge booth space in the middle of the central hall. Crowded with lots of people. Showing tons of 4K stuff, including a nicely configured 4K DI suite with BARCO 4K projector. They didn't have any new cameras to show, nor any new lenses, but they were showing some more streamlined workflows. Love the new large format printer. Prototype displays -- they're going to jump into the display market very soon, probably by this time next year.

@Michael, the Xenars completely trounce the CP.2's, IMO The new Schneider Xenon primes are squarely targeted at the CP.2 marketspace and I think they're rather comparable. So far only 3 of those are available (50, 75, 100) and they are very nice and compact. I prefer their look, priced about $4K per lens and they cover 35FF like [most of] the CP.2's do. Back to the Xenar III's, I think they're superior in every way, with the exception of large apertures on a few of the select focal lengths that the CP.2's have. Of course, they're designed to cover S35, plus a bit more. They're not designed for FF like the CP.2's or Xenons. They are larger, very much comparable in size and weight to the RED Primes, Uniques, Masters and Cooke primes. In similar fashion to RED and Cooke, the 50 and longer focal lengths of the Xenars are more compact and light. The 35 and lower are large and heavy.

I loved the image on the Canon 4k prototype monitors. They also had a bit of a demo showing the process for taking stills out of video.
