  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet to Epic Trade Program ?

Hopefully sooner then later. Would love to get mine for 2 back to back features
 
As far as I can tell, if you went for an Epic MX upgrade plan ( like myself :P ) then they roll out the upgrades before they roll out all the dragon sensor upgrades. Because they have the stock of Epics. Fingers crossed! It's gonna be hard to say goodbye to my lovely Scarlet. But bigger, better, more Epic things I guess ^_^

When do you send your Scarlet in?

Curious as to how this works.

I am leaning towards an EPIC.
 
I just hope there is a time frame on how long u have to decide. Also I am worried how long it takes cause I use my red at least once a week. Especially now since the hours of light is longer and warmer weather
 
Greg did u have to put down a deposit or wait till they contact u to mail out your red? Please let me know thx
 
You can also choose the wire option, rather than use credit card, that's what I did.

Besides frame rate, and resolution (and with that crop factor), there is no difference in image quality.

In a properly calibrated camera the difference at 4KHD (up to) 30fps there should be no difference. Albeit the EPIC will shoot with slightly less compression.

The EPIC basically gives you the Higher frame rates and resolution/A.R options. For what its worth I have ticked the Scarlet-to-MX Box. The sheer anticipated increase in media consumption at 6K isnt something I can afford right now.

And according to Jarreds posts the scarlet upgrades begin in JULY. So your bank balances are safe for the time being.
 
I ordered my Scarlet to Epic upgrade yesterday, it will be interesting to see how this plays out time-wise. Some people on these threads have been surmising that usable parts will be scavenged from the Scarlet sent in and used to build the replacement Epic, I suspect (and hope) this is a bunch of hot air. I would imagine that they will swap the SSD and lens mount to the new camera however.

Acording to Brent, it's a brain swap. So you will keep your SSD module and mount from your scarlet when they do the switch. Plan for a bt scarlet sale to follow.
 
Yeah its a brain swap, but when will it happened, just spoke to the squad, they had no dates for anything and i don't blame them :) however I got an email confirming my order where you respond to your rep back saying yes I agree to the above order.
Step 1 you get the order confirm email.
Step 2 you get to confirm your order.
Step 3 my epic gets allocated
