  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Gamechanger?

my money's on the handheld stabilizing gyro doohicky...

or a new type of hard drive with unlimited storage... or... a lightsaber... because... i've always wanted one... of each of those things... really..

I want to know so bad. Especially since he's comparing it to the first video debuting the 5dm2's video features. That was huge. What could it be!!!

My guess is a new focusing technology. Something like "Push Focus" that uses a depth acquisition laser field system (mounted to the camera and calibrated for each individual lens) along with a wireless motor (for the focusing) and resistive touchscreen to control the focus wirelessly. 1st AC simply touches on the screen where they want to focus and how hard they press the resistive touchscreen determines how fast focus changes from the previous spot to the new spot. Press and hold/drag on a subject moving in the frame to maintain focus on them. The system could also include physical "markers" such as translucent stickers or smart contact lenses that you attach to your talent of objects in the scene. These markers would be represented as buttons on a sidebar next to the actual video frame on the touchscreen (ex. "ACTOR X - EYES", "TEA CUP", ...etc...) and when clicked on, focus would adjust focus for that particular marker. This would be particularly useful for long steadicam shots where we're tracking/focusing on an actor and there are objects or other talent crossing into the foreground.

A guy can dream right?
