Hey all, hoping I can find some solid advice on a big problem:

I've got an early 2011 macbook pro, 8GB ram, Solidstate quadcore, mountain lion, with the mLink R external chassis with a RED Rocket running through thunderbolt.

When I'm editing in premiere, more often than not it'll freeze up the playback screens even though the program keeps running seemingly normal, but when i try to quit premiere it'll all freeze and i've got to force shutdown before i can reopen it to edit again. wash, rinse, repeat. this sucks :(

Is there a possible kink in my system that's holding premiere back from functioning properly? Do I actually need a new laptop? I've reinstalled the program, reinstalled my os and wiped the computer to start fresh to no avail.

If anyone has any tips it'd be much appreciated!!! I'll be waiting...

THANK YOU

Are you viewing on a secondary display? If you are, you need to add this display under the settings: Premier Pro, Preferences, Playback. Make sure your monitor is added there.

If not, make sure that it is in fact your program monitor that you're viewing and not a reference monitor.

Thanks Chris it's much appreciated, no I'm just using the screen on my 15" MBP. Settings look correct, I see adobe DV as an unchecked option and I'm not sure what that means.

Try closing out your program monitor, then going up to window, and reload a new program monitor. I've had the same bug before, and that generally will do the trick.

Also, are you up to date? Do you have the R3D plugins manually installed as well?

I'll try the window trick now thanks! I'm on 6.0.0 and I believe the .r3d presets come installed already in this version (unlike 5 and 5.5) as I have them, are there more that I might need? I'll let you know how it goes.
