Wonder if we will see the long Lost burst mode once the dragon hits the market

I don't think red ever said anything about a burst mode for any of their cameras. I've seen a lot of people ask for it, but I have never seen it on any spec sheets.

That being said, I would love it to magically appear in a update, but I'm not even considering it a possibility.

It was part of their spec sheets earlier in the 2/3" Scarlet days. 3K with bursts up to 120fps. But that was back when it was going to cost 3-5k. So much has changed.

Actually - sorry to be that guy ;) - it was mentioned for all the scarlets.

The old S35 had a 5K burst too for a said 72fps. I wish the X could now do a burst of a minute or two to get a useable framerate of 24-30fps @ 5K. Still the one thing I miss a little from my beloved Scarlet compared to the old specs, just to be able to use that full FOV. The old S35 was said to be shooting a standard of up to 30fps @ 5K. But just as you said, Drew, a lot has changed and I'm not holding my breath anymore. Still... it would be more than nice but I rather shoot my Scarlet the way it is than not at all :) Still loving the cute little thing.

I'm not holding my breath either but it would be great to have some things like that happen for us guys that don't feel the need to upgrade to dragon. I'm starting to feel the scarlet x is just gonna hit EOL real soon which is a shame as its still a great cam for uhd delivery and proper cinema exposition. We shall see I suppose

Exactly the reason RED gave us these trade in options. I knew Scarlet would be short lived, but I also knew it was my best bet at eventually getting an Epic. Having a Scarlet for a year made a lot of sense for many of us.

I mean I think scarlet is still alive and not short lived. Compression wise it's still better than the redone... And it shot some fantastic feature films. Like social network. I do agree though probs nothing else comin to scarlet
