Towards the end of the night on the third of a four day shoot, short drama. Lashed an umbrella to the rig hand held in light rain. The brain was well covered but the handle took a few drops. I mean a few drops, nothing that gave me cause to worry but shot for 1/2 an hour then noticed the navigation wheel, it's interior directional functions and OK buttons on the side handle weren't responding. All other buttons functioning as normal, the LCD while lighting up with the light button, shows no stats. Record buttons work, monitor display all shows normal.

Water damage?

It's possible there's damage, or more likely moisture may just be preventing the button contacts working correctly.

Take it off the camera. Take out the battery if any. Look closely around the dodgy buttons with a bright light, and see if you can see any moisture. If so, dry what you can reach. Then either leave it in a warm airing cupboard overnight, or in a sealed bag of dry rice or with silica drying packets to dry any residual moisture.

Try it again.

I had that happen to my sidehandle. Almost exactly the problem you describe. I don't know if it happened after it got wet or it just stopped working. I had to send it back for repair under warranty

As others have said: remove it from the camera right away, remove the REDvolt from it, let it dry out for 1-2 days if possible (in a dry environment of course). putting in a bag of rice can help draw out some moisture as well. It should come back to life. If it doesn't come right back after that remedy, then yea, send it back to RED if its covered under warranty.

Thanks all, no change this morning, have to work with it as is tonight, more rainy exteriors.. After that I'll leave it a couple of days and report back.
