Some of you LA cats might already know, Anthony Cran and Naomi Wilding are currently working on opening an art gallery in "downtown Los Angeles".

As a photographer, I'm delighted to say that Anthony and Naomi recently asked to represent me: I accepted of course.

I look forward to announcing Wilding-Cran' grand opening, and to meeting any LA redusers who might attend.

Cheers

Cool stuff Bill. Were the images in the slideshow yours or an example of gallery images?

Thanks Elsie
I think the slide show shows a cross section of the gallery's artists.

Or you can visit the Gallery "artist's" page for fuller coverage of the individuals.

Looks like they embrace art as photography + computer enhancement. That's how I played for years and loved every minute of it. No smelly, messy paints... just ink when I printed onto a canvas. Happy to see that being accepted as art.

Art isn't in the material, is it? But at least for a large part in the conception?

Bill's stuff seems very stringent, to me...

Thanks Gunleik

I'm happy they accept it as art too Elsie. Most of my work is fairly straight photography. Most of the work is done in situ.

That's always been my take on art, but I have a friend whose wife belonged to an art club and they dismissed anything that wasn't painted free style, that is, no line drawings to establish the image or any other such device. They allowed looking at a photograph while painting the scene, but that was all.

Hm...

I guess we avoid art discussions over here about as vigourously as politics and religioun... :)

We generally don't discuss "ideas" here, but technology...

(this more as reminder to my humble self...)

It is stringent (in its execution) - that seemed to fit my idea of these things. This series.

At the same time, the treatment of "Navigation Sign" ( a boating sign on the end of a pier) should, hopefully, suggest a fair bit to anyone interested in the dichotomy between figurative and non figurative based modes of art.

The "Pop Tarts Art" scene read like a Pangea of art iconography in the process of breaking up and decaying.

Of course nothing is written in stone here, it's just the way I see it.
