As the title suggests; which do you guys recommend and why? The WC 2060/2575/120EX Dovetail Plate is $49 more expensive and appears to have two safety catches versus Element Technica's one.

I've never used the WC dovetails, but I do have their new version EVF Mount and it is a very well made piece of kit. Personally I use the ET dovetail, but I've had it since before the WC dovetails were on the market. The ET dovetail only has one safety release, but it does have a hard stop at the other end, so the camera can't come off either way by accident. Having two safety releases just means you can slide the bridgeplate or QR off the dovetail either direction...not a big deal IMO. They are both very reputable companies and I'm sure either one would be fine.

My .02...

Many thanks for the replies, guys.

One other thing I was wondering was; does the dovetail locking mechanism on the DSMC QR Platform need adjusting to accompany the Element Technica 2060/2575 dovetail without any play? I've heard / read different things from different sources.

I have that combination (actually several lengths of ET dovetails) and everything works as advertised.

I've never had to adjust mine...worked perfectly right from the beginning.

I have both.

In general I find that the WC pieces are machined with higher tolerances (as in, there's a bit more play between pieces). That's not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes I've had ET stuff be actually machined too tight.

ET's standards seem to be one notch higher. However, on a simple piece of gear like this, you'd be fine with either one.

Cheers for the input, guys.

I've gone with the Element Technica 2060/2575 Dovetail -- With any luck, I should receive it some time next week. I will report back when I do.

Received my Element Technica 2060/2575 Dovetail Plate today from Panastore in the UK. Seriously superb quality, and great tolerances. Very smooth action, confidence-inspiring safety features, and fits perfectly with the DSMC Quick Release Platform. All in all, a highly impressive piece of kit, and recommended to anyone who is asking the same questions I was.
