This thread is for the new Chinese Steadicam model found here: http://www.camera-video-broadcast.c...am-Stabilizer-Steadycam-Carbon-Fiber_141.html

IT IS NOT A CUSTOM MODEL which other threads have been collaborating on for quite some time. This model has been tried and tested by users both on REDUser and elsewhere with confirmed positive feedback.

I have been in communication with RED users who:

1) Do not have the luxury of time to wait for custom model consensus
2) Want the latest reliable model of the CAME/LIANG chinese steadicam
3) Want a group buy discount

Because of this, we want to move the ball on reaching the quota for the seller to provide a group buy discount. The price WILL NOT be $1600 as mentioned on their original website listing (there was some confusion on that earlier). It will be significantly less, and you must contact the seller for the exact details. PLEASE DO NOT POST THE DISCOUNTED PRICE ON HERE! :)

Seller has placed a deadline of March 20th
for the group buy with instructions below. That leaves about a week for the rest of the interested parties who fall into the category of the above mentioned points to assist the quota of customers needed by the seller. (I'm sure there may be possibility of the deadline being extended if there is progress on the reservations, but I don't know the seller so I can't make that call)

Seller is waiting for a total of 30 confirmed buyers
via email requests to move forward on offer. I believe multiple people have already contacted the seller and the count shouldn't be tough to get, so that is good news :)

Please CONTACT THE SELLER and do not contact me for this offer. Me and the other buyers can't answer questions on behalf of the seller, nor are we trying to rock the boat (as mentioned in the other group buy thread), so we ask anyone who sees this offer as a threat to their ambitious group buy efforts to chill... We are not asking your patient buyers to defect.

If you're interested in getting the newest CAME Steadicam for a much lower price within the next few weeks, Here are the instructions from the seller, with the attached Official letter from the seller:

***********************************

Dear REDUSER Group buyers:

The Special you have been waiting for is HERE :)

My name is Frank. I am the manager from Xiamen Came Photographic Equipment Co.,Ltd. I am pleased to know our Steadycam has grown in use and popularity worldwide. I’d like to make some clarifications to help everyone get on the same page for this purchase:

Due to delays in communication and a variety of requests, many potential customers have requested different and often contradicting items, causing a delay in consensus and furthermore delaying final product specifications for the Steadycam package. We have decided our newest and latest Steadycam model is more than adequate for your requests for the RED camera and this will be the package we will be sending out: http://www.camera-video-broadcast.co...Fiber_141.html

Considering most of our buyers want to place their order in the near future, our company is providing a Special, in order to encourage a more consistent process to the group buy.

DETAILS OF REDUSER SPECIAL:

If a total of 30 or more purchases of the CAME Steadycam package are confirmed
, we will provide the group-buy discounted price for all orders. We currently sell the package for $1600USD original price.
(This will not be the price of the Group Buy, he is just listing what it sells for normally - EP)

*Additionally we will give all group-buy confirmed customers a 12% Discount for any additional items on our company website: http://www.camera-video-broadcast.com/

Our deadline for the REDUSER group-buy is March 20th, 2013
.

“What is the process of “confirming” my order and how will I know if the 30 customer threshold has been reached?”

You must first email your order request to
sale@camera-video-broadcast.com, with the following information:

1) First and Last Name
2) Mailing Address, Country
3) Order: “I would like to purchase the REDUSER Group Buy newest model of the Steadycam”
4) PayPal Email/Account Name

When we receive 30 or more legitimate email orders with legitimate PayPal accounts
, you will then be sent an email with the discounted total (previously disclosed) as well as your PayPal invoice. Make sure to adjust your spam folder accordingly. Make sure to note “
REDUSERGroupBuy” in the PayPal description.

For any further questions on this special or discount email:
sale@camera-video-broadcast.com

Best regards,
Xiamen Came Photographic Equipment Co.,Ltd

Look, after so many troubles with Laing / Came and their communication through Vitaliy, I don't care anymore if the Laing group buy is still happening. I was hoping to finish the project and create, as a joint effort of reduser and Laing, an amazing low budget steadicam. Still, I do find this attempt at a group buy disruptive, since many redusers are counting on the modifications. If 30! of them jump ship, the remaining wont have that much power in the process any more. I fully understand that some people need a stabilization system urgently, and the Laing offers great value for it's price, but those should just form a group and ask for the best price. That wouldn't threaten the group buy.

Haha, I'm with Kwan, so many threads, it's making this really hard to follow.

I understand the desire to move things along but if people jump on this one too, then we have three group buys going which may jepordize the discount price of all three if we can't get enough people to agree on one or two models, at the very least it certainly jepordizes the Laing Custom Model I would imagine... We saw this same exact message weeks ago after the group buy stated working directly with the manufacturer instead of Came I believe ..

In my opinion we should join together and limit the buy to two - one high end (sounds like people are leaning heavily towards ProLine but yet to be officially decided), and the custom Laing. I think everyone wins this way. We are getting very close by the sounds of it on the other buys, so I recommend waiting at least another few days before jumping ship...

Can't blame you one bit, David. I for sure won't be buying this old stock and succumbing to an obvious tactic to undercut the group buy effort you started. I'd shell out the extra $ and buy a Proline before I'd do that. If Laing want my money, they can be attentive to the modification requests and put forth a revised product that addresses the most serious issues as reported by Kwan and other testers, chief of which is that the rig can barely hold a modestly-appointed Epic with the existing springs. If there's no "consensus" on needed changes, it's because the Laing rep that took over for the company in these threads to eliminate you as the representative for the group seemed much more concerned with undermining the competition than devising a genuinely probative survey to find out what the consensus actually is.

Edreace, I hope you had the courtesy to at least contact David before this post. A quick scan of your posts suggests you have been very eager to get a Laing rig sooner than later. Not sure if this was the best idea for the rest who are leaning towards the Laing. I personally have zero interest in it, but others may.

As pointed out above, CAME is a reseller of Laing, and doesn't have the ability to modify their product to suit the needs of Redusers.

If you have a job coming right up perhaps it's best to source an operator or a rig today, rather than roll the dice on a splinter group of 30 via CAME, for a not-so-suitable-for-Red rig you're stuck with.

From what I understand R1 owners should be aware that the spring isn't suitable for the camera's weight. I don't know if CAME are offering to swap out the springs or include a second set.

Also consider the group and the person who set it up, the people doing the testing for Reduser, and the people at Laing who are working hard on the requested modifications.

This is the second marketing post from Edreace P.; from what I understand the first didn't eventuate.

All the comments stated are sound in their own right. However, I still don't see this as a "disruptive" thread nor as a "marketing post". I know we have a community on here that is online 24/7 and naturally are prone to form group-think, but I hope everyone understands not everyone thinks or has the same frame of logic as the other person, nor the same needs or concerns.

I commend David for his efforts as well as Kwan and Vitaliy. But this isn't a game show where we are bound to team-leaders.

My objectives are clear and consistent since when I first posted it, there are others who share my opinion (much more than I had first presumed). The offer is on the table. I thank everyone for their psycho-analysis of the intentions of the sellers and their perspectives.

As far as I'm concerned we are debating and collaborating over air, as so far there is nothing to show for or materialize on these multiple steadicam group buy threads besides people who bit the bullet, bought an existing one, and gave a review (pat on the back to you)

I don't mean disrespect to anyone, but I'd also appreciate people leaving this offer and the people who have the intention to purchase from it- to the free market. I may be ordering from China, but I don't live in China or under Chinese rule - nor do I appreciate this much interference in nothing more than a group buy request.

Lets first let something materialize and then we can begin counting our accolades and awards for the "right decision"

Firstly, there are too many threads as it is. Secondly, having a thread title like "Newest Chinese Steadicam Offer from Seller - Deadline Approaching! " is even more confusing. So the newest offer is for the not-so-new rig. Got it.

In the end, it's your speculation vs. my speculation. I really hope you don't think its anything more than that. But thanks for your input

vs the truth of the matter. Can anyone claim they know that? If not, then it's all speculation. Post after post of it.

Well, I think you'll have to get used to that. This is a community where both speculation and discussion is permitted.

Indeed Matt, let's just keep that in mind that it is each other's speculations we are comparing, as the underlying tones and statements made on this seem to have a little more conviction in them than what should be warranted by actual proof. We may start mistaking ourselves to be knowing the facts on this group buy thing. Its good to remind ourselves these are all opinions taken from other people's speculation at most.

Thank you for solving the riddle of humility Brett. You've made my job easier. :) It's a free world. Choose accordingly
