  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Probably wrong forum, but 'tis the only one I´m part of. So maybe some fellow reduser can help me. My client needs footage delivered on analogue Hi8 NTSC tape. I´m totally lost in finding a recorder. Are there any new recorders out there (I don't want to use too much time calibrating some old used shit). Anyone know any brand or website to find such items?

Wow/ Why in the world would they want to do that? Is it a matter of making it look like that or do they really have a Hi8 machine someplace that they intend to play back on?

Thomas,

there are plenty on ebay.

Just have a look, you'll find what are you looking for for a very low price.

As long as you have an analog RCA or S-Video input device on your computer you can use a Hi-8 camera instead of a dedicated player. Strange that aybody would still be using Hi-8 but whatever works. I still have my dad's Betamax camera just because it looks like old streaky 70's-80's TV footage. Never know when it could come in handy! :)

Believe it or not. It's for playback on an 2004 Airbus. Apparently there's a big market for Hi8 still in the flight industry. Also in the military. I would like to rip that ol' piece of junk out of the aircraft, and insert a Macbook Air with VLC player, but there are strict rules about these things.

Anyways, thanks guys. I think I found something on ebay.
