Hey everybody!

We shot a short film on a RED One MX in 4,5k with 2.33:1 aspect ratio. I edited in MC6 linking the footage via AMA. I then created an EDL to get the Sequence into Apple Color for grading. Color only supports 4k resolution though. What happens is, that Color seems to fall back on the 2k wrapper, because the F wrapper, which is 4,5k is to large for Color to handle.

I could create a new EDL for REDCINE-X and just convert the Sequence to ProRes422 HQ with 444 Chroma Filtering checked.

I thought there might be another, quicker way, but can't find out if it can be done:
Is it possible to just create a new wrapper at a custom resolution? So for my source file, which is 4480x1920 a wrapper that is 4096x2048 (which would be 4k 2:1 ratio, which comes closest to my source material)?
In REDCINE-X I can only choose between F, H, M and P in "export as QT wrapper" settings. Full would result in 4480x1920, High would result in 2K.
Would save a great deal of time for us if that worked somehow.

Thanks for your help in advance!

No. The wrappers can only be exact fractions of the full resolution, i.e. half, quarter, eighth and sixteenth. The fractional decode resolutions are a nice bonus from the wavelet compression, but you can't use arbitrary resolutions.

Okay, the first part I got. But you lost me at fractional decode resolutions and wavelet compression. Could you please explain that any further?

EDIT

Ah, okay. Fractional decode meaning the half, and quarter resolution wrappers?

Wavelet compression is the way REDCODE works, and it allows half rez, quarter rez etc decoding. Anything in between is not possible.
