  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Grid 5.0 viewfinder review.

Just want to re-confirm that IF/WHEN the need would arise to remove the double taped frame, that this would not damage the RED 5.0 LCD? I know is hard to find users that have done this since they are super happy with product - so why remove? So I am relying on your word Nicholas

The main/only reason is if in the future the Scarlet/Epic brain was to be sold and new owner did not want the double taped frame attached.

THX!!!

just ordered the viewfinder. Also planning to order the fan foam cover as I have a feature am shooting in the desert..

Can anyone tell me what eyepiece will work over this? I tried using the XL Round Bluestar eyepiece as someone suggested, but the GRID 5.0's own eyecup has an odd shape to it...

How does everyone feel about the Grid 5.0 vs. a BOMB EVF? I'm torn between the two right now.

Torn? You could almost buy a Red Rocket card with what you are saving with the Grid. Camera assistants can't believe their eyes when they put their eyes on the Grid 5.0, I am a VERY happy customer!

Don't let it pointed toward the sun it will burn your LCD within 2 minutes. I had to repair a burned LCD.

IT s more sensitive as an usual EVF IMHO.

Patrick, I sent you a PM about a week ago regarding your monitor repair, as I also burned a spot in mine by forgetting to cap the GRID for a couple or three minutes when the sun was behind me. I'm resending that PM tonight as well as posting here, hoping you'll see one or the other. I had just assumed I'd have to replace the entire LCD if I wanted one without a "hole", but your post makes me curious about a repair option, who did it, how much it cost, etc.

Sadly I am in the exact same situation. Please let me know if there is any way to repair...

I bought a touch LCD to use only with the grid to avoid burning the rental LCD.
My screen has some burn mark out of frame that don't bother me so I won't repair it again.
