  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

PRO IO MINI - VERSION 2 - WHO WANTS ONE !!!!

This is the only module I am interested in.

I have a pretty compact setup now:

I just need a 2nd evf port.

If the Toia module came out it would solve so many issues.

C'mon Red.

Jim and Jarred are probably fueling the jet to come and punch me in the face for causing such a stir on this subject.... But I'll take the hits for chance of this thing being made.

After having a good long hard think about my personal requirements and reading the hundreds of threads on the last PRO IO MINI thread I started... I think its best not to try jam pack it with every single option, as that is what the MEIZLER MODULE is designed to do.
This little baby is only for the thousands of us that want to keep the cameras small and powerful. With this module comes full size Audio inputs / extra EVF and 4k/2k proxies files simultaneous with R3D's...

Let the big movie guys get the big rigs with all the bells and whistles I say, and the power to them. We applaud RED for making things like the MEIZLER MODULE available to them.... but now its time for the little guys, the 80% of us who want to keep things small and functional. This is why we all bought into RED EPIC (including the amazing image quality of course)
PRO RES for instant editing is what saved ARRI... If it was just a RAW camera it would be as dead as the D21 is a long time ago... we all know this. So to have a small and PRORES (or DNXHD) in a tiny module (as well as proper audio inputs) - that would be the last thing to we (i) will need to say out loud. "PERFECT"
Actually the RED PLAYBACK IS WAHT MADE THE CAMERA PERFECT FOR ME.... this will top it off.

I know I know this could be a ridiculous request for RED... but when I see sound pix and Samurais sort of doing it... and knowing that RED are the kings of shrinking horse power into little boxes... I totally think RED can do this.

Thank you again Jim and Jarred in advance.

If Red had done this a year or two ago...the new Sony camera would have no chance to compete.....and i would have bought a 2nd and maybe 3rd Epic.

I can't believe there has been no answer to this discussion from RED. If they would have just made a proxy module from the start it would have made a major impact on Alexa, Sony, Canon, etc. Would have helped their credibility on workflow alone to all those clients that are non prepared to handle RED RAW post.

I'm now in the market again for either a Pix240, AJA KiPro Mini, BM Shuttledeck Pro or the Ninja. Have to sift through all the ups and downs to factor in what's best.

I love you RED but sometimes you need a spanking.

Alex

Yep totally agree, it's unbelievable they didnt release something like this yet. In june last year they said something was coming and now nearly 8 months later....not a single word about it :( people are saying it for years, this is the missing link making epic complete.. I truly don't understand why red doesn't react in these threads :s

I don't know what would be better; the offline 4k prores/dnxhd files or the full-sized XLRs in such a compact (and presumably affordable) unit.

Meizer module isn't even shipping... it would be one thing if this was a legit option, but it's not. Best to look elsewhere...

Maybe NAB 2013 RED will tease us with these future products and some new products that will ship Q4? I don't know about you guys but clients aren't waiting...

Seriously ? ...

Maybe the mini Module will break light ! They will sell 100 to 1 !
Yes, that's probably true. But what's more important is that the mini module will sell more Epics since it would remove one of the biggest strikes against it and in favor of its competition.

Personally, I'd be happy with just the XLR adapter module that removes the need for the "dumb" adapter that's now required to attach modules. Since an adapter is now required to attach any module, why not make the adapter something you'd want attached all the time?

+1!!
