  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone know if you can get .R3D to show up as thumbnail previews in Win7X64??

Hi, so when viewing .R3D's I don't see thumbnails in Windows 7 x64 explorer, quite annoying. Any fix for this? I have latest Redcine-X installed.

Generally speaking, if Windows Media Player can't play the video file it won't display a preview thumbnail in Explorer.

You could just open up Redcine-X, see the clips in their, and match them in your Windows Explorer. Windows won't recognize Reds Codec, so it won't play the clip.

On the Mac it looks like a low resolution image is stored as a JPEG or something in R3D files. You can quicklook an R3D and see a crappy image of the first frame. If the data is stored in the file, there might be a way to get explorer to read it out onto the icon. This might be more than a checkbox for a hobbyist - RED might have to implement it into their RCX installer if its even possible.
