I have the new 400mm 2.8 II, Tele Extender III 1.4x & 2.0x and want to use with Epic. Did RED ever get the firmware updated to allow this? Anyone field test this combo?

Cheers!

well, Josh - if you already HAVE it then we elect you to field test!

Yeah, RED get a bit funy about hooking up 3rd party lenses 'n stuff. As in a Voided Warranty. Would like to get an official RED TEAM thumbs up on this topic.

Hello RED Team
Not seeing this lens on the approved list. What is the process to get that done? Leaving in a week for a commercial shoot in Africa. Need to know if I'm taking the Epic or Canon 1Dc for the project.

Josh - FWIW I have never heard any discussion about or claim from RED that using non-"approved" lenses would affect warranty. Have used a Tamron/Canon mt 24-70 for a year with no issues (tho I wish the IS feature worked) or blow back from RED when I talked to the Techs directly. They DO respond from direct emails BTW if you want to get specific info. RED just won't guarantee just what features a non-listed lenses will work on the cameras.
If your lens mounts up and works, use it. Likewise the TeleEx. Neither will hurt the camera.

Anyone using the new 400mm 2.8 II lens? I want to shoot an upcoming project on Epic but might have to go Canon 1Dc if there is no lens firmware from RED.
