I don't know whats going on but I feel like lately I've been loosing black shade every time I film.

Today for example before the shoot I let the camera warm up for 20minutes outside where I was filming then black shaded to the current exposure and fps. Now looking at footage from 1 hour later I can see grain lines...

What am I doing wrong? I shot at the same exposure and fps and at 4k like I black shaded.

This is zoomed in to show better. Luckily its not really bad but man It really screw me one day.

What was your ISO? Compression ratio? Is this picture 1:1? Are you shooting 4K? 3K? 2K? 1K? Can you post an R3D still so that we can help you?

Are you talking about the green dots? I see a couple horizontal lines, but I'm not sure I really see the issue.

I'm not sure that what we are seeing is a blackshading issue. It is recommended that you backshade anytime you are shooting higher fps, but again, this looks like something else to me.

I would run some tests with the same settings on non beta firmware to see if the problem goes away. It seems several people are seeing odd compression artifacts on the new beta.

The grain lines? Is that not BlackShading issue?

Anyone seen this before?

That looks like a compression problem. You should contact support and send them a log file. You're using beta software, so that could be the cause.

Hi,
I have simular problems with my Epic. It's now at the Red repair service.

Cheers
Thomas.

Actually Drew, you don't generally have to re-blackshade when going to higher fps than your timebase of 24/25/30fps. Red recommends it if you are going to lower fps.

Does not look like a blackshading issue. Try reinstalling a fresh download of the latest beta, or preferably a release firmware. Blackshade again. Then see if you are seeing the same problems. You can temporarily raise the ISO to emphasise any errors.
