Went out to the local skate park the other afternoon to mess around with Red Scarlet and Peleng 8mm lens. Saw this dude Ashton destroying the bowl and asked him if we could get a couple shots. Only shot with him for about 10minutes but he killed it. Was hoping for an epic sunset but clouds rolled in right before we shot this and the light went to shit.
Overall Peleng 8mm lens is really soft at 4k. But for the price its a fun little lens.

Agreed the Peleng lens is a bit soft but your digital crops hold up well. They can be tricky with backfocus. It does not take much to put them off. They managed the coatings pretty well on this lens. The Zenitar 16mm is a lot more flary and lacking in contrast.

An interesting effect can be had by remounting the lens lower on the optical axis ( higher as viewed ) which confers a more natural look to closer low ohjects and a cathedral arch effect on the more distant higher ones. You may give away a little image area and will need a friendly lens tech/machinist who can make you a substitute mount. Voiding warranty will be an issue for you. Nowadays with modern editing software, you can achieve this almost as easily as by purely mechanical means. From memory, I reset the optical centre of the lens about 25% low which was relatively easy for me to do on a home-made AGUS35 adaptor I was using at the time.

The following clip is rather soft by today's standards but then we did not have REDs and SI2Ks. Please forgive the roll off horizontal here and there. I was handholding the whole affair which was offcentre weightwise. I kept on the move because somebody spotted me with this evil looking contraption, grabbed their mobile phone and hurried off glancing back and looking at me from a "safe" distance.
