Problems with Innerspace Cases

That case was really well done. You have a talent for designing lens cases Ketch and the 300mm inside was as good as a 300mm RPP can get. Makes me want to own another set of RPPs.

He he, thanks Will, glad you like it, then I hope you'll be one of my first costumers once we get our shop up and running... ;)

I love Innerspace cases.
For years They have made set visits to measure for my gear.

They've missed their target date twice in 7 years.

I already am :)

To show my support for this community I wanted to further post about this incident, in order to clarify and insuring that an outstanding company like Inner-space and a great guy like Louis, do not get under the fire from any one outside of Jon's unfortunate event.

Since that in the past, while still in the US, I introduced the possibility to do Compact Designed by me Innerspace cases, and I did few tests of which Will ended up with one with the RPP 300mm, fantastic cases, so this brought a concern, mostly I tough that Louis was no longer at Innerspace, but this is not the case.

This particular case seems to do with a standard configuration order, vs. a custom one, were all the cases sold by Innerspace, as those for the R1 are built to allow the loading of a fully configured Epic, similar to what it was done with the R1, were you could just open the case and pop up the camera body by the Handle with some accessories already mounted on it.

I actually had the same thing happen to me when I ordered the first cases form them, and after talking to Louis, I want to his shop, and Design my own cases, and sold the other ones, as they were not what I was looking for, but those that bought them form me, had no problem using them t all, as they were the standard, I just wanted a Custom cue type for all my gear, and I got just that, form Innerspace, with fantastic results, again, Will can attest for it by the design and built quality of the Compact Innerspace case I sold him for the RPP 300mm.

Either way, Louis, is taking care of this directly with Jones, as in the best accommodating way possible giving the circumstances, and I am happy about this, as I would not want a Company I do business with, do wrong to this community.

Sorry about your experience, Jones, but as a suggestion next time, a better communication and precise specs knowledge of the item to be purchased, would save any issues later on... ;)

You must have talked to Louis? Because that is what he told me in his "Rebuttal" to me. I told him the camera hole was too big, and he said, that's impossible, we make these every day! That's my fault???? How could I have fixed this Ketch? How could I have gotten my specs down better to make this hole smaller, or to make my camera fit in this?????

I'm sorry about my experience as well. I'm sorry that I ever used them. I won't be doing making that mistake again. They have previously never wronged me, but their attitude in this matter is completely inexcusable! And now that they are telling others that it was still my fault? WOW, I can hardly believe it.

They didn't ask me for a measurement on the EPIC at all. They said that they have it. They didn't ask me for any measurements at all until after I sent the case back. They said that they have the measurements for all the items I want in the case.

Yes Jon,

as I said, I did communicated with Louis, and since I take concern with both my community, yours, ours, and the Manufacturers we deal with, I wanted to do what I could to make sure this didn't happen again, and also make sure Louis was still in charge, and something didn't went horribly wrong in a way that others would suffer the same consequences as you did, but I do believe now that this has happened all do to a miss communication, or understanding of what a Standardized Camera or lens case means, in this case, it meant that the Epic camera Hole was designed ot carry not just the Epic NAKED BRAIN, but to be loaded with accessories, including the Side Handle and others.

Of course as I said, I did made this very mistake myself also do to luck of proper communication, mostly on my part as I tough I understood what I was buying, but I didn't and unfortunately the manufacturer also assumed that I did, and didn't explain prior shipping that what I was buying was a case that fitted the gear in a particular set up, so that if such set up was changed then the camera would no longer fit in properly.

Now of course I can't say that this is exactly what happened to you, but I think this is what happened, and at then end is really just too bad, for both you and the manufacturer, but I also know that Innerspace is a great Company, and Louis being good people, I know you will be taken care of one way or the other.

I say I fill sorry for you because I have been there, but I also don't like when a member of this community gets bad crevice form some one I do business with and I recommend here, while on the other side of the coin, I also don't like when a Member of this community is too fast to Bash on a very well known and reputable Company such as Innerspace, for this I hope and I know you guys will arrange a final resolution of this situation, of course I am now sorry for both of you, for you as you got a case that is not what you expected to be and for Luis at Innerspace for getting Bashed on a public forum, before being given a chance to rectify the situation, similar in a way as when people bash RED publicly before sending in a support ticket, I know I also have done this... ONES, then I understood the way things should work in respect of the company that provides you excellent product and costumer service... ;)

Looking at the pictures in the OP, can you tell me which accessories I can attach that would make this camera fit in the hole? As you can see the side handle and side SSD is attached already.

My SCARLET was standing in place of my EPIC, since the EPIC was built with the PRO I/O and handles and such and still would not fit, and I didn't want to take it all apart just to show the idiocy of the build.

I really like mycasebuilder.com
you design the insert yourself using their web based program.. i have had 3 cases made by them.

Jon,

since I didn't design the case, I don't know exactly what this particular design was meant o hold, if this was indeed design to be similar to that of the R1 case, then the Epic/Scarlet bodies, would not only have the Side Handle, Side SSD, and Lens Mount, but also the Bottom Plate, Top Plate Nato Rail, and Top Handle, for sure, plus the possibility of even holding the EVF or LCD already mounted on.

Of course this are just guessing by the Picture, and again, I give this regrettable incident as a fault to the Miscommunication on both parts, and not the case it self, as this get made by molds and very many are made by it, unless you ordered Custom made giving precise measurements as I did, actually taking the Gear I wanted the cases fit for.

Please make sure to understand that in NO way I am making you at FAULT, as I am not, Neither I am leaving Louis of Innerspace at FAULT either as He is not.

This in my opinion is a case of Miscommunication on both parts, and both parts need to take responsibility and come to a mutual agreement, which I believe you are with Louis.

Only thing that I would suggest to you and any other member of this Forum is not to Bash any one or any one's product before first having tried to communicate and resolve the situation directly with the manufacturer, while on the other hand your sharing of this event will be sure to warn others and as to make sure they do properly communicate and inquire and make sure they are given proper specs on what they are buying.

Yes I agree, this should warn other buyers to make sure they give and get all of the measurements correctly before doing any business with Innerspace, even if you tell them the hole is for the EPIC body only, and they say ok we have the measurements for that. They need to make sure to tell them not to make the hole all the way to the bottom of the case, where there would be no cusion at all on the bottom, that is my fault, I did not tell them that.

Also that the hole is thin enough to accommodate the body only, oh I actually did tell them that. It is in the quote they gave me, there's no miscommunication Ketch. Then they need to make sure that they don't tell the customer, and all others who inquire that it is the fault of the client, who paid them August 4th for the case and still has yet to receive it?? I guess I didn't communicate well to them that I wanted the case before the new year! That also was my bad, I take full responsibility for that one!

Look I know their cases are good. I told louis that also, I just dont recommend using them for custom cases. If they get the case right in its design then they will still take 6 months to deliver. They took 4 months to get the case to me the first time. If your going to buy an already made epic ata case, those are great.
