  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

my first scarlet project...Ina Soltani RTW 2013

full length shots (stills) were shot as verticals in 5K....looking at that R90 for future shoots like that!

here are some stills from the shoot...more on my site www.schefz.com

really beautiful . . . Paul, some shots appear handheld and stabilized maybe? then most on a tripod? is this correct?

thank you!
no tripod...everything handheld....the canon IS works incredibly well....i usually try to keep the camera moving slightly instead of trying to hold it steady in one position....the IS really helps keeping this "swaying" smooth....
i find the camera compact and a nice weight...not too heavy, even with the large canon zooms....well balanced....i am used to shooting mamiya RZ, rollei and fuji GX 680 handheld for stills so this is really very similar.....and there is no IS with any of those systems:)

Wow Paul, the stills are stunning - overall you have contribute to the community showing that great things can be done with a Scarlet - if the person behind it is skill and creative

Kudos!!

BTW, I am a Canon (still user) and I guess I had not paid attention to the fact the IS can be a great tool to make handheld and actual good option - will start playing with it.

i tried a couple of non IS primes and as much as i like to get a certain look sometimes, the ability to handhold almost any situation because of the IS makes the canon zooms the better choice (for the most part)....
i wish there was a better list of which nikon or other lenses actually work stabilized on RED....i have several canon lenses but i am not in any way locked into those....nikon seems to have some interesting ones as well...

thanks! i shot 4K and quite a few 5K verticals (which obviously did not end up in the video but where used for the look book...)....i am saving up for epic....and can't wait to see dragon....scarlet 4K is great but 5K at lower compression is a better file for stills.....

Very nice, Paul. Extremely elegant.
