I have a big problem! Been having re-occuring issues where my redMote repeatedly freezes up but something new that has just developed is that now there is NO way to power it down and we need a wireless remote. For three hours it has been on and the damn thing is frozen. Nothing works.

Not only is this a big problem for this shoot it is unbelievably EMBARRASSING.

Can anybody suggest a way to perform a force power down on this so I can at least try to reboot and see if it will work for just another hour to finish this shot?

Mine froze after a full day on set, mostly off the camera. Nothing worked to re-set it so I just plugged it into my computer via USB and let it re-charge overnight. When we came back next morning, it was fine. I think they are prone to freezing when the battery runs out.

I had the same problem when I switched to v 4. beta firmware and the unit was fully charged. Finally I tried holding down the slider ( top right) on the side for 7-8 seconds and managed to switch it off, but on rebooting it immediately froze again when I tried to use it. Now with 4.0.6 it hasn't frozen, but won't connect and if I try via the camera SETTINGS/SETUP/REDMOTE, I immediately get a message: REDLINK upgrade required, return to RED. I think there is still a lot for the next firmware release to address for the redmote.

Lol, there was a big snafu redmote thread a while back in which one of the red team promised to help me. He wanted me to email him. So I emailed several times without any response. I think they just post on the threads to reassure future buyers. At any rate the redmote sucks, and the battery issue is just one of the several critical fail points on it.
