Just saw the news on Atomos's site, so I updated my Samurai's firmware — the file-naming feature works!

This is great news for me.........thank you Atomos team

oh man. I just sold my samurai with my F3 kit too.....guess I should have kept it!

Told ya

Must update. If no one else does, I'll be able to confirm or deny, Shoot - Edit with ProRes - Conform to R3d in Resolve - grade r3d. If anyone beats me to it, way better. I'm on a huge shoot this week, so I won't have a ton of time.

I just installed the new 4.1 firmware and gave it a try. It does grab the Epic file names but also adds a _T001, _T002, _T003, etc to each clip. Anybody know if you can turn this off so the file names are exactly the same as what the Epic names the files?

The R3D usually has _001, _002 appended to it inside of the RDC folder (in 2GB chunks) however I'm not really sure why the Atomos is adding the T. I don't personally have one, so can't really test it, but my understanding is that DaVinci, at least, ignores everything after that last underscore anyway, and understands that it just needs to match the .RDC name. Curious to hear whether or not this gives anyone any trouble while I wait patiently for Blackmagic to add RED naming to the HyperDeck Shuttle.
Best,

-Harry

aha....just what is needed for the indian market......hope production companies adopt this method for the offline edit....!

I was just about to buy the Hyperdeck Shuttle when I saw this thread. I guess I will have to wait, the file naming issue with BlackMagic has to be resolved somehow...

No that isn't what is happening. These are completely unique clips, each with _T001, _T002, etc. The Teradek cube which also grabs the file names doesn't have this problem.
