This is probably a silly question but any idea if one could purchase a paint that would be compatible with the paint RED uses? I know nothing in this area and basically just have some scuffs I'd like to repair if possible. Thanks

Good question. My friend, a Scarlet owner, asked his Red bomb squad the painting reference and Red wasn't able to give it to him. So I guess you simply can't do it, all you can do is throw it away and buy a new one ;-)

Judging by the usual price drops, it would be cheaper in 6 months anyway ;-)

Feel free to dispose that lousy camera to me, I want to own one too. :)

I'm betting it's powder coated. Don't worry about some scuffs, cameras are designed to be used. A few signs of near is no big deal. The thing's built like a tank. As long as it hasn't been dropped or abused and you're not trying to cover that up, you have nothing to worry about.

You could always make a fashion statement and repaint it in desert camo or ------------------------------------ ask ARRI for a sample can of their Alexa paint.

Ya I mean I've tried taking as good care of it as possible, however some of the shoots I've been on have been inside clubs or places that I know aren't great for it. I guess its just disheartening when you try to watch out as much as possible for this camera and then random paint chips show up and I have no idea when or how...I'll survive though and it still works great. Was just a thought, figured it was baked on coating though

Wish they used the same fused plastic powder coat they did on the redone. Nothing can scratch that.

Remember this?

I'd love a custom paint job like that haha

Woah! That is awesome!! Did you have to dismantle it to paint it? I hope not. That would be quite a hassel to mask everything. If you had it done professionally, I bet it wasn't cheap.

Or is that a prototype?!
