  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I do Repairs/Re_cell of Anton Bauer batteries, plus RED, IDX, Frezzi, Switt, Sony, imports, Belts, Lunchbox packs, etc.

I re-celled my ABs about 6 years ago, IIRC correctly the vendor was Rathbone Energy out of Tennessee. They did a great job, but not cheap.

Agree with John that ABs are excellent batteries. That said, I now use BeBobs which have the D-tap connector right on the top of the battery. With the Antons you need a Gold Mount plate to get the D-tap and if you want to power a light or other aks you need yet another Gold Mount plate in addition to the one that sits on the camera which is another $200.

I rarely use my ABs these days, in fact, your post reminds me I should put them through a charge cycle today to keep them happy.

BeBobs are V-mount and AFAIK will play nice with chargers from BeBob, IDX, Sony, etc.

FWIW I love the Anton mount system with the big pins and consider it superior to the V-mount design. That said, so many of the sub-rentals and multi-cam situations I find myself in using other people's R1/Epic/Scarlet kits are V-mount based that its just easier to have them match. Another sad case of inferior technology winning due to ubiquity. Fortunately, well manufactured V-mounts are plenty solid for most situations though I can remember hanging off the side of a sloop trying to get the classic "bow cutting the water" shot when we hit a wave and I got thrown around pretty good but the gold mount plate and the big pins held up like a champ...
