Hey guys, how do I get the Epic to read timecode from a locketbox? it's not reading...

shoot starts soon...any help much appreciated.

I have always just stuffed timecode into it via the red bnc to lemo cable, the tc symbol turns green, and it's good. By the same token, if you leave a lockit box plugged in it will just stay green and go with that. Are you sure you are using the correct in's and outs and that the camera is set up to take time code?

Nick

please run me through the setup. I must be missing something... exactly how do you do it?

Some soundies have Lemo cables that go straight from their Lockit to the Sync jack on the Epic. If not (ie you're using BNC) then you'll need to use Red's breakout cable (http://www.red.com/store/products/3bnc-to-00-lemo-sync-cable) and plug into the YELLOW jack.

Then it's as simple as telling the Epic to accept external timecode - in the current build 3.3 that's located in the SETTINGS > PROJECT > TIME CODE menu. That should be set to 'External', the 'TC' indicator on the Epic display should turn green (one of a bunch of grey words to the right of the histogram when you're in record mode) and there you go.

yea I am deff not gettig a signal...latest beta broken for timecode in?

we have single cable from locket to sync port...still nothing though...camera never sees it...latest build..ideas?

also have tested the sync cable via the pin out diagram from red manual..it's correct....ideas?

I'd ask over at the sound guy forum I linked to. It's definitely more of a sound guy problem. Have you tested that you are sending out a time code signal from the lockit box? What are you jamming it with? Can you jam the red with a different device? If you can start to eliminate things from the chain that may be potential problems, you will start making forward progress.

2 lockits, both don't work. not sure how to test locket...Ill ask sound guy to do this though.

ok tested locket box on a slate...it's sending timecode...tested the cable...correct pins...leaves the camera?? what to try next?

I don't have my camera with the latest build with me, but make sure in the Timecode menu it is set to "external".

I did that...it's just not reading a thing...trying older firmware now

THANK YOU GOTHAM SOUND for making us an epic camera cable that was wired incorrectly.
