Best ProRes 422 Proxy export settings

Hey everyone.

On a production now where I'm required to transcode R3Ds to ProRes Proxies for editorial. They will be editing in FCP-X.

What will be the best compression settings in RCX-Pro for the proxies? What will look "nicest" for editorial? Sound settings?

If they want proRes than the Proxy version which is 50mb/second bitrate is fine.

In RCX-Pro, I'm creating a new preset for the proxies.

For file format I'm doing quicktime, and for setup -> video I'm selecting Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy). Only thing I can change after that is fps and gamma correction.

They are shooting in 4K HD, so that's 16:9. For the proxies, debayer settings should be 2048x1152? This way they can edit in 2K.

EDIT: just noticed you said "which is," thought you meant it should be changed to that. Sounds good. Should I change gamma correction to none?

Sounds right. Debayer settings are different than Resolution. If you are using red rocket card, it always debayers at full quality. Otherwise, for dailies don't encode full quality as its slow. An external recorder is very helpful for dailies actually.

Ah didn't even realize that. Sorry, long day. I'll be using a Red Rocket card.

I've got the dailies stuff figured out for this shoot. I'm doing overnight dailies and transcoding, so I'm just going to be rendering out ProRes 422 Proxies, and H264s from RCX-Pro.

Should I change gamma correction to none?

I've always got my best results by setting gamma correction to none. Otherwise it can wash out your image a bit.
