Ah, we have a white knight. Not someone interested in the user base's thought. /exchange

You just have to buy an epic($20k), red one($4K) or other brand($15K+) for high fps.. Isn't that strange??
Sony FS700 (native 4K S35 sensor) is 8k$ and shoots 1080p/300fps (same as EPIC) and maximum is 960fps in 9 second burst. It will also record 4K via firmware update next year.

Yeah but can they do that shit RAW?
No RAW yet, but it produces really good image as you can see from some of the vimeo videos.
BTW, don't expect to get faster frame rates at least in next few years since Dragon is 6K sensor and according to Jim the frame rates stays the same in EPIC and since Scarlet will use same sensor it means Scarlet frame rates will be the same as they are now. Only change obviously 5K video and 6K stills rather than 4K video and 5K still which it has now.
True. I don't understand how anyone can think that you would later get more fps through firmware update no matter what camera or brand is in question. Obviously the camera must have specs that you want when you buy it. Why on earth would you buy camera that doesn't do what you want in the first place? Think before buying.Your "low priced model" was $25,000 until they recently End of Lined it and sold off their remaining USED cameras at a significant discount.
You knew the frame rate/resolution specs when you bought your Scarlet.
RED comes out with a huge upgrade in functionality (on schedule) and immediately you start this thread in response. It's a total buzz kill for me. I can only imagine what it feels like for everyone at RED to see this.
So you think that Dragon Scarlet will have same specs as Dragon EPIC? Pretty much only thing seperating these two is frame rates. That will not change, you can count on it. Scarlet will just make one jump upwards in the resolution just like EPIC does. With EPIC it means 6K and with Scarlet 5K. Frame rates stay the same for EPIC and that means they will stay the same for Scarlet too.Do you make this stuff up? "Obviously" (??) 5K video, 6K stills for Scarlet? Says who?
As far as what an FS700 "will record next year." Why not compare what Epic or Scarlet "will record next year." When things actually get delivered, let's return to the subject. Some day GoPro will be 6K at 400 fps. You should just wait for that.
Like I said in another thread. Lately, some of the discussions here are just plane bizarre.

It was just a comment on the upcoming RAW recording. The 1080p 300fps is plenty for most needs. People shoot 1K and 2K slow motion here and integrate it with other Scarlet/EPIC footage all the time.
You are littering "That will not change, you can count on it" kind of comments everywhere. The first rule of RED club, "Everything Changes"
All this speculation is for two different cameras. If Scarlet becomes Dragon EPIC then they will obviously have same specs. But that update will cost at least 15k$ for Scarlet users so it's basically the same if they had just bought an EPIC in the first place.
You can count on it that they will not have 15k$ Dragon Scarlet that does the same frame rates as 25K$ Dragon EPIC.
How can one be disappointed when something that was never offered/promoted by RED is not included in an upgrade? Get real.
