Hi all

My rMBP seems to sleep sometime during mid transcode. All the energy saving settings are off and I have been using Caffeine to try to force it to stay up, but it still sleeps..

Narcolepsy? ;)

Hi Shane, what finder version are you running?

Is Energy saver set to NEVER on both the battery and the power adapter? Set Display to NEVER (but turn it down while transcoding). Are any external hard drives going to sleep?

Other option is to keep wireless on and try enabling or disabling Power Nap.

You can always check in the "Activity Monitor" to see if there are things happening. There should be while transcoding.
Just some thoughts.

Hi Will

Thanks for your ideas. I'm running 10.8.2. Everything is turned off as best as possible. I wonder if it's a rMBP OSX issue?

Do you have "put hard disks to sleep when possible" checked? My rMBP had the same issue, but is fine now. I tell it to never shut down the monitor, and darken the display manually with the keys. Works well for all night renders for me.

Hi Drew

I checked all the suggestions you made yes, hard drives and monitor not sleeping. Seems to be ok re sleeping but now RedCineX is showing write errors during transcoding to my G-RAID which is TB via a TB Magma chassis housing the Rocket. I'm wondering if the PCIe controller in the chassis might be misbehaving?

Did you update all the new RED drivers and firmware?
