Hi all,

My 509HD tripod has been bashed about and after dismantling it it appears these two components pictured have snapped, leaving the camera useless in anything other than a locked off capacity.

Trouble is I can't find out what they're called or what their part number is despite studying the parts PDF for an eternity.

They seemed to be in place to stop the head having any slack before the fluid head mechanics kick in, as without them there is an inch or two of play in the head before you can tilt properly.

Manfrotto in the UK has been less than useless, and has not replied to any of my messages. Even about sending the head in to be serviced. I'm not even sure they offer that service. They certainly don't advertise it.

If there's anyone out there who might be able to assist I'd be eternally grateful.

Thanks all,

Ben

BTW, I would guess these come from part # R516,09

located at the bottom in the pdf here 509HD_20110426.pdf

Thing is that the replacement could be the whole system shown in that frame and not only the plastic bits.

EDIT: in the second PDF 509HD_20110309.pdf they are offering the part # is R516,10

EDIT2: in germany they are offering a send in service via www.avc.de ...http://www.manfrotto.de/Service/Service+%26+Reparaturen/ / google translation
or you might contact manfrotto.com and see if they react.

or contact avc directly and send them the photo. they have an english version of their site, so they should be able to communicate

Oooh thanks for help chaps :)

Patrick, they were situated in each of the 2 slots on the left hand side of the head (the side with tilt tension adjustment) once everything had been taken off. As they were snapped I'm unsure if that is their permanent home but I assume it is. Thanks so much for having a look and I'll go down that route see if they are more helpful.

Eric, yes it was those guys. Vitec may well be the way to go if I can't get it sorted.

Thanks once again redusers!

Ah well, just be aware there's another Patrick in Germany with a Red who looks just like your profile pic. Better make sure your doppelganger isn't stealing your work ;)

Hehe. Ok I will keep an eye open. ;) I just hope I'm not affected by amnesia of some sort hehehe

But Ben, do let us know what will come of the replacement item story.
