Hello all...

Can one use a battery belt pack to power a RED ONE MX camera? Something like the ones seen here:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Battery-Packs-Belts/ci/3722/N/4294545103

If so, what kind of cables are needed to connect it to the camera?

And I know that RED makes a Battery Belt Clip, but I want to check if you can power the camera without the use of V-mount or AB-mount batteries.

Thanks!

I don't think at 12v those batteries can power the camera. I think 14v is the min, and it usually draws in the neighborhood of 15v.

Well, according to experience, and more importantly the manual, the R1 accepts DC between +11.5 and +17V, so you should be o.k. with the 12V batteries, though they won't give you much room when they start depleting.

Hey Martin. What do you mean by "they won't give you much room when they start depleting"?

Also, what kind of cable would work to connect something like this to the RED ONE MX?

When rechargeable batteries go emptier, their voltage drops. Thus most camera batteries are in the 13-14 Volt range. Once the voltage drops below the camera's threshold, it might just turn off, or do weird stuff like switch on and off.

I see. Thanks.
