As a side note, is it true Red has gone after third party companies with legal action for making accessories for their cameras? Someone told me that and I was horrified but hadnt heard that.

Only where they perceive there's a case of copyright or trademark infringement to answer. WC is currently in dispute over some of their accessories for Red cameras, which is why their name is coming up as "x" in your link.

In other cases, third party accessories have possibly caused damage to Red cameras - obviously in those cases, it invalidates any warranties on those Red cameras.

wow...bummer. Those third party companies are vital IMO for Red's success as they make the camera workable for many people who it wouldnt be otherwise a viable solution. Red should be careful not to scare these companies away.
