I have a question about the Epic and MoCo shutter sync. I was told by the vender we are using for motion control that they haven't yet been able to sync the epic by shutter for precise repeatability... Are they missing something? They recommended Alexa for sync purposes. I'd prefer red, but sync is more important to the client than the camera used. So, any help would be great.

Thanks,

Kyle

I would think that if they used the CTRL port, used pins 1 and 3, and then set in the menus "Settings > Setup > GPIO/SYNC > Brain GPIO > Camera Output : Sync OUT

This will then send a pulse out of CTRL port with the rising edge of the pulse indicating the start of exposure.

What I'm not 100% on is if the SYNC tab you would need to set your sensor SYNC mode to MoCo, as that is now an option.

Or if you are shooting at a standard "video" rate, you can sync both the camera and the mo-co rig to the same external sync source. Some mo-co systems will only sync to a standard def sync , though so you need a sync generator like the AJA GEN10 which provides synchronised try-level sync and black and burst.

I have been successfully shooting mo-co with an Epic for the last three weeks.

Kyle, can you detail what you want to do? What is your sync source? single frames or just synced steady rate? etc
