Hi Guys,

I'm having a really tough time grading this shot.

It was shot on Scarlet with CP.2 lenses.

I know theres a ton of talented people on here so I have attached an .R3D to play with.

Here's the shot, I just can't seem to pull much out of it. Very interested to see what can be done with it.

Thanks

Mackenzie

Mackenzie,

What is the contex of the shot? What mood do you want to convey? What purpose does it serve in the story? What is the relationship between the man and horse?

I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Answers to ?'s like those make it easier to figure out to where to try to take the image.

These are some excellent grades guys really stunning as to what your pulling from the shot!

Hi Peter,

So a quick synopsis for the short film is as follows;
'Danny quickly finds that his gambling addiction has put him and his family in over their heads. Risking more than he should ever have, Danny is forced to put all bets on his own horse Butterfly for one one last shot at redemption.'

This is the opening shot of the film when the lead Danny, walks into the stable to go see the horse he owns Butterfly. Right after this scene his mother comes into the stable and they have a large argument as she confronts him about ruining his family with his betting.

'Butterfly' is the horse, and the relationship with Danny is that he owns the horse, and he is entering him in an upcoming race and placing a large wager with a bookie on him.

The mood/feeling is shameful/unease.

Thanks so much everyone for your grades, keep them coming they look excellent!

Mackenzie

Spending more time on the shot, bringing out the horse and actor more, directing the light to focus where I want:
