  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE (Battle-Tested) - Going, going, GONE

Crazy to think that RED won't be making the camera I've been obsessing over for the last few years, and furthermore, that I finally bought one, and for that kind of money. Thanks, RED. Can't wait to get my tracking number.

was hoping for it to last more then a week! But its hard to pass up 4.5k for 4k

Ok, I've made every attempt to be aloof and take the attitude that it will be here when it gets here - bomb squad is busy, lots of orders, etc. and not to be a Red fan boy, but I have to admit to being pretty stinking stoked.
As much as I have wanted this camera since Jim first announced RED (back in the "give us a $1000 for preorder" days - which I almost did), I realized last night just how much this camera will change things. I was writing a scene in a script I have been working on and I caught myself writing without considering whether I could get the shot. I realized that the promise is not so much of getting a great camera as it is a removal of so many barriers to creativity. This camera frees me from all that. Rolling shutter, gone, Aiasing, gone, noise from compression, gone, lack of color space, gone. (Ok, I know some of those exist to some degree, but compared to what I have been using...). I can consider more action, less talking heads. More effects and better grading. In short, better story telling. Honestly, at the end of the day, I don't care about cameras or lighting or effects or any of that - I want to tell a story without limitations. This camera is a huge step in the right direction. So why this post? Who cares about what I think? No one, I guess, but I can't help but be excited for the opportunity that RED has provided. Big studios using RED is cool, but to them it's just a camera choice. To me, it's a dream realized.

I can't think of too many companies that have helped launch more dreams than this one.

Thank you Jim.

Well said. Certainly that pricepoint allows lower budgeted creatives to achieve previously out of reach dreams

Could not agree more. Been refreshing my email every few hours since I ordered. Been shooting DSLR for a few years now, and while I love it, I really feel the limitations, especially from a post production standpoint. The flexibility of RED footage is amazing, I've been playing with some I downloaded for months now. And yes, I too have been drooling over this camera since it was first announced. I don't think I've ever been so excited.

Hi John, congrats on getting yourself a Red One. If you treat the camera well it will work well for you. In a similar way to your story, the Red has provided me with the opportunity to make my own films. Before I purchased the Red I wrote and hoped to get my films made. Now I make them. Learning to shoot the Red with no crew or a very small crew has been a learning curve but with preparation and perseverance it is possible.

Enjoy.

Ordered mine Nov. 6. Accessories have been delivered and Bomb Squad has been very helpful in keeping me updated on the R1MX body. CAN'T WAIT! :)

Once again - thank you RED for making it possible!

There is one thing that upsets me:

Ordered mine on 11/04/2012 and when asked about shipping update
my supervisor told me that there are couple of weeks more to wait and it is still subject to change.

I've read only good things about sales support, but the 25th of November is already three weeks since the order has been placed.

Could anyone please tell me about "2-3 weeks" in more detail?
Shall I be aware of any possible delays?

Guys, what all here need to do for a moment, is to stop and really think hard of what just happened @ RED...

Insane deal on BT Scarlet, all gone just about at once.

Super Insane deal on BT RED ONE, also all gone in crazy record times.

Mega Super Crazy Insane almost 50% Price drop on EPIC with also most then likely crazy record sales.

Oh and then there is also the new kid of the block MONOCHROME.

I can only but imagine what is going on @ RED right now, complete madness of orders form all fronts, and the Army that is RED @ work to process all of it...

Be patient some of us had to wait for a very long time to get one years back... Soon it will be your turn as well, and you'll love every minute of it thereafter... ;)

Truly well said!

I hope the shipping will stick to stated 2-3 weeks. An upcoming project needs RED badly and there is no way to rent it here.

We got both our Red1s yesterday! We ordered right away and we are located in Los Angeles, so I imagine we are one of the first to receive our cameras. Sit tight fellas, they are coming :)

ordered mine 11/5.. Bomb squad rep said Allocation notice was given to him yesterday 11/21... very eager to get mine..

Hey please post some pics and condition of your cam and packaging when it comes!! just curious to see what they are doing as far as packaging etc.!! I am excited too, I have 2 films in pre production and we are using 2 of them between mine and another RED USER on this forum who are my partners on one of the films!!! The excitement is on the same level of being with a new really hot chick!!!! Ok i need help. LOL

ordered 11/01; the FedEx tracking info given to me says i'm to expect my Redone tmr!!! just gonna sit tight by the door till it comes!

Are there future plans to sell BT R1s in the future as they become available from RED? (via upgrade, repair, whatever)

Or is this the end of the R1 sales directly from RED as a whole?
