Here's a frame grab from my brand-new (used) Scarlet-X BT.

The ugliness doesn't show up while shooting, but does on playback both in-camera and in Red CineX. It shows up as a flashing blueish series of images like this.

I've used my RED ONE MX for years, never a problem like this...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

There is a thread on this issue. I think it's caused by the Side SSD and the pins connected to it. Contact your Red Rep. It might not have anything to do with the camera but the connection to the card thus how it's recorded get's screwed up.

Oh fuck... apparently a lot of people are having this problem.

I'm doing a black shade right now, hoping that's it. But... I can't use this camera on a shoot if it's gonna do this.

Update: have tried black shading twice, using AC power. Both times FAILURE.

Growing dread, here.
Chill,

Contact your rep. Or RED on there site. You'll probably get an email even though it's Sunday night. I've had problems before, mine was in a couple times within the first few shoots I owned it. With age it's been running fine :)

I for one didnt get it with the BT Scarlet.
Ive done numerous tests shots in different conditions even at zero degree weather outdoors.
Is there something I should check?
I also did a Black Shade for the first time days after using my cam.
Im still green as to when to do that.

does he have to right to get fully refund ??? apparently nobody tested these BT Scarlets..Mine is still in friends house (NJ) i ll get to chance test it next week.hope i wont get any error
since too many people pointed out its related with 1xxx serials..i have 1206 something like that

Well, I can say that RED has ALWAYS provided killer customer support to me in the past, so I am sure if my Scarlet's a lemon they'll refund me if I want, or do a swap if I want. I'm not worried about that. More worried about having bad stuff happen on set, esp. since I do a lot of traveling and cannot afford/justify two Scarlet/Epics in case one goes bad.

I was in the Philippines for 2 weeks when my BT Scarlet started not powering my monitor half way through the shoot.

RED checked the Log file and found the camera was not communicating with the LCD so they think its the Cable. I'm sending my LCD and Cable back tomorrow.

I don't think this is a BT Scarlet issue I think its just a RED issue. I'm really worried about future shoots where clients are not going to be so nice to let em use my 5d after paying me to shoot 4k...

I don't know what to do.

I'm sorry you're experiencing the issue and I completely understand how you feel as I had exactly the same issue not too long ago. I have contacted RED Europe (first with a telephone call then email) send them the camera log and frame grabs and haven't heard anything since, two weeks ago this was. I heard other people have had very positive experiences dealing with Red Europe, but this doesn't bode well in my mind at the moment. I really felt a bit left out in the wilderness and was very worried on my next shoot which slowed me down considerably as I had to keep on checking if all was good.

Back to the issue: I reformatted the redmags twice and the issue seemed to disappear. I have had some feedback from members of the forum and it was pointed out this is nothing to do with the mag as it's either recognised as being in by the camera or off. But again maybe there is something in the fact that WC has made some redmag guards to prevent you inadvertently knocking the mag.

I'm guessing it was just bad timing because a LOT is happening at RED at the moment with their whole internal system being upgraded/changed. Still sucks though....and as for the RED mag slot, I don't think it's that. I could get mine to record corrupt frames even if the camera was perfectly still. Different RED mags, and all.

Sorry, but the real world doesn't work like that. Business is business, I emailed two different reps. Customers invest in RED products because they want reliability and service of the highest quality. Also I didn't receive an email, as you do when a new product is launched or there's a new firmware update to explain they are upgrading their internal system. One can understand a situation if you know about it. I didn't. Bad communication.

An update on my situation: I did contact RED support as our local RED Medic suggested.

I also have been testing here, bad news all-around:
- tried formatting another SSD and using it, still FAIL on black shade.
- I have firmware 3.3.14, as it came from RED
- while trying to record to see if I was still getting the horrible blue/green/mosaic-y corrupt frames, I got an error #0x0000001e and it told me "please save log and send to RED support"

damn damn damn...

Again, I know they'll do right by me, they always have. But when I was looking for the fix to my problems last night a lot of threads just ended, with no update/changes/fixes. I'm hoping my thread will help others sometime.
