It's been said the best long term investment in equipment right now is in glass. PL mount.
Any news on new RPP's sets, the Red store focal lengths are incomplete of a full set. New Red camera price reductions means more Red users are needing glass. One can only use EF glass for so long until the limitations bite you.

Sony showed new PL glass with the F5, interesting!
Zeiss CP.2 Super Speeds starting to ship and adding to their range.

Where are the Red Pro Primes set? Are they gone/dead? Is there a new version coming?

Looking to make long term investments, Would be great to hear there's a plan for Red glass on the way

As I recall - and correct me anyone if I'm wrong - a few months ago, when the missing focal lengths started disappearing from the store, Jarred said something to the effect that they had sold out faster than RED expected, that they had ordered more from their manufacturers, but that there was a LONG lead time and, while they would be back in stock, it wouldn't be any time soon.

He also said 'no new lens designs from RED this year' or words to that effect.

An I about right in my recollection?

Mike

Huge things are happening where i don't think there are any safe camera investments (aside from c-stands). With the blending of cinema and photography lenses, with both lens electronic & post processing correction, with high grade composites, with dramatic changes in sensor technology .... it's going to be soon where a major movie will be made on a lens kits costing $6k.

I remember something like that, but that was a long time ago and it was more of a off the cuff statement then anything else. When RED goes radio silent on something, i keep my ears wide open.

Call it a hunch, but I think they are up to something big. New electronic RPP's?

Just a 100% from the gut hunch. But yeah, radio silence is strange for sure. They are up to something I bet. Or hope anyway. :)

RPP's with i/interface and added focal lengths of 14mm and/or 16mm and 65mm, and full compatibility with current RPP's, would be sweet. Maybe even an upgrade program to i/interface?

Remember the you are not allowed to produce goods with lead anymore (at least outside of north America anyway). If these RPP were made outside of the US, they definitely need to be redesigned.
