Anyone know of a source for prop credit cards?

Yeah, I know, it's not exactly a cinematographic question, but we are looking to have a prop credit card made and looking for a great source for such.

I'm especially interested in one with embossed lettering.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Depending on the shot, many do this with FX. they track the old card and replace with new. Only because the client always seem to change their mind on the graphics!

I definitely want a real card, so VFX isn't going to work for me.

Hey Stephen, I worked on a project like this a couple years back. The machines can be found on eBay and depending on the budget of your production, it may be affordable. And then at that point you'll be able to change it on set if the client wants different letters/names. I ended up buying a different machine that can print onto credit cards, but using Thermal Resins to create the effect. If you're ok with it not being Embossed, then I can help you with this. I also own a hydraulic press, so i could conceivably try to do a one-off Emboss job, but if you're trying to make it look exactly like a credit card then my Embossing technique may not be suitable for the kind of lettering they use in names.

I also want to think that such a service could be found on the internet, then again... I can't think of a practical application for a fake credit card other than to attract the attention of the authorities. :-(

hi there, call independent studio services in sunland ca . studio graphics dept. does this and is the only place in Los Angeles , aside from the hand prop room on venice blvd that does it period . this place makes everything , i mean everything you see in every big television show , movie commercial ect ect . that is a hand prop , like credit cards license plates superhero shields , fake bombs machine guns real and fake , ect 1818 951-5600
