  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ZEISS ARRI STANDARD PRIME SET 24,32,50,85MM T.2 WITH PL ADAPTERS ON EBAY

Thanks for listing these, best of luck with the sale and your new post efforts...

Do the PL "adapters" physically hold onto the lens with screws, glue etc or just slide over the end and hold it with pressure? (Given that these are standard mount, not bayonet.)

Auction doesn't make the usual mention of no internal dust, no scratches or marks on glass, no fungus. Any of the above?

Any service paperwork from the last time they received a clean bill of health from a tech? If not, when was that?

Any stickiness in the focus / iris rings? Can the iris rings accept a gear for a motor or no clearance?

How much rotation do the focus rings have--about 180 degrees or more?

Do the lenses have .8 pitch focusing gears or another kind of gear? Hard to tell, hand is over the barrel in the photos.

Why are the front and back caps "temporary?"

And just out of curiosity, what used to belong in the 4 empty holes with matching depressions in the case?

Thanks Brandon!

wow, those lens look tiny. It's hard to tell because of the low quality images though, do you have any high rez photos?

Thanks

Hey all,

Thanks for your questions:

Here are some answers :)

These little guys are first generation ARRI ZEISS standard primes.

I think there's an amazing amount of information on them on the web, but since we took ownership of them about a year ago, we havent researched them... just used them and enjoy the awesome images they make.

The glass is clean and clear to the naked eye, I will be happy to shoot more images of them as they are currently on my desk, so just PM me with your email address and tell me what you want to see please. (or come see them in Carlsbad, CA.)

The PL adapter for these standard lenses, and the one we like the best is the Les Bosher type, it is quickly interchangable between lenses and comes with the kit, however 3 lenses have their own PL adapters that have small screws to hold them on securely to the lens body, so its your choice.

The adapters tend to obscure the original focus ring on this series of lenses that were made to fit ARRI cameras with a standard mount.

Using a follow focus and adding gears to the set may be possible, but we have been using them without either and marking the focus points on a piece of gaffers tape wrapped around the lens, so you might want to ask a lens tech about that.

The reserve on these lenses is 5.5K.

The old front and back caps and case are free, they are old and should be replaced.

The holes were made before we got that case , so I have no idea what they were for or what lenses were originally in them., but the case is free.

The PL back caps are rubber and made is Israel..they are wonderful.

After purchase, I would send them in to a lens tech like Bernie at Super 16 for a good "refresh", but I would do that with any classic lens set.

Hope that helps!

PS: I also have a set of 35mm standard LOMO primes on Ebaywith a PL adapter as well as a set of Canon EJ primes for 2/3" cameras.

Thank you!

I have the 16mm T2 that Brandon is talking about. Yes, these lenses are tiny. The adapter he mentions slips on and off like a glove. I have a similar one (my lens is Arri-B mount, but the adapter works on both standard and b-mount, I believe). Steve Gal looked at the pics of my lens and said it had MK II optics, but MKI housing. Brandon's lenes may be similar, as the serial #'s are prettty close (my lens is in the low 6's, like many of my Contax glass).

These are superb lenses. Don't have all the cinema-mechanics of later Standard Primes with better focus throws, marking, etc.....but the optics are superb.

I think this could be an amazing catch for the lucky buyer.
