(Cross Post from the RED Rocket thread, figured it might be helpful to have over here too...)

I emailed RMA, waiting to hear back. I had a bad experience with FedEx (read about it here.. http://www.reddit.com/r/FedUpwithFedEx/comments/12u38v/fedup_with_fedex/) and I wanted to know if anybody had ever experienced this sort of damage? RMA said upon a first look that it was unfixable, but I sent them much more detailed photos now, most things seem intact and it seems as if it could be easily soldered back together.

I have the card back in my possession, it is the same one. Anybody else have an ideas? Still waiting to hear back from RED...

Looks like its the lowest of the daughter cards on the mother board nearest the back. Usually its the most vunerable for getting caught on other cards and components and likly to be the most easily damaged. My guess its been damaged inserting or removing from a machine. Digidesign had one card that was really easily damaged in a similar way. It looks to me as though it can be resoldered by an electronics shop. There are through links to resolder the daughter board to the mother board. May be consult Red or it may have to go to Factory to be fixed. Id not do this your self get Red to fix or a specialist.

I sent a photo that showed the damage but no detail to RED, they said it was non-repairable but I just sent them these photos a few days ago and I am awaiting a response. It was supposedly damaged in transit, so it sort of seems that the solder on the original board might just have not been the most solid. Hopefully it can be repaired! Seems logical that it could be...

Even if it is repairable red will not fix red rocket cards. I had a fan break on one of mine and they said it wasn't fixable. I had to order a new fan and repair it myself. This was after the $100 evaluation fee. It was also out of warranty. Had it been under warranty they would've just given me a new card. Kinda funny that they will replace a card rather than fix a $10 fan. Anyways, if its under warranty send it in they will take care of you. If not try to fix it yourself.

It is most definitely under warranty (received 11 days ago) I'm just waiting to hear back from them to see if they'll even evaluate it upon sending it in. Otherwise, I'll have to look into other options of getting it repaired I guess... I don't trust myself to fix it though, it's definitely a sensitive card (obviously)
