4K DCP resolution?
4K DCP resolution?
Hi,
We have a short, (not so short, 27 min.) which we mastered in 4K (our first). We have shown it in 2K (it was selected at the Locarno film festival), with no problems. We went to test it in the first 4K (recently equiped) cinema around here (most of Europe is still 2K), it seemed to play, there was sound, but no image. We made a new test file, and this time it was not recognized by the server, a GDC. Upon checking the server's specs, in 4K, the only resolution accepted is 4096x2160. Our film is 1.85, which in 4K is 3996x2160. For 2K, 1998x1080 is a standard format, is 3996x2160 (1.85 in 4K) not a standard? Are all servers limited to one 4K resolution?
Does this mean I have to make a new 4K master in "pillar box"?
Cheers,
Damien
