I'm planning to buy a few PAGlink PL96e batteries to power my new R1-MX. Question is, how long will the battery last with this camera setup... SSD, EVF and/or 5.6" LCD? I've read that the R1-MX draws ~80 watts, and that RED bricks are 140Wh, but these PAGlink's are 95Wh. I'm assuming they'll still power the setup, but not as long. As that right? Is there any way to know how long that battery will last in the field?

Thanks!

Yeah I've got the same question! I'm ordering my MX. And also can I recharge other brands with the red charger? Or just the red bricks?

Wait a second... Is it as simple as ~80Wh means an 80Wh battery would last for 1 hour?

Matt,

I sent you an email too...

I spoke with Pag on the phone today... they told me that a single PL96e will operate a Red One for approximately one hour and 15 minutes.

I hope this helps.

Let me know!

That is quite good, Curt...we don't get much more than that from our RED Bricks. And I love the "stackable" PAGs...great for travel and when you need longer run times.

Tom,

I SWEAR when I do my "reviews" it's because I have found a truly great product. I want to share what I've found. As I get older, I want to work SMARTER, not HARDER! I wasted SO MUCH MONEY over the years... I only wish someone would have shared their knowledge on finding the gems out there...

So this is my way of giving back. I've been fairly fortunate. If I can ease the burden of someone else, it makes it all worth it!

These truly are the best batteries I've ever used. I know it's kind of tough to get excited over a battery, but somehow, I did! While I'm not COMPLETELY switching from the three stud system, I will have about a 25/75% split. The larger number now going to the PAGlinks. I love hangin' em on monitors and LEDs too! Everyone I've showed them to, loves them! I just wish the "group buy" would have been a better experience... you know what they say about a bad apple...

Ironically? PAG has REMOVED the "purchasing" option from their website! So now... if you want them, you MUST go through a dealer, no matter where you live, courtesy, Red User. (I just think if one found a better deal... why did they have to trash the one I was organizing? These ARE THE BEST PRICES in the United States, period! Ironically, being loud caused that other program to disappear too...)

i tryed a 230Wh GMP batterie two days ago, the camera stay about 3hours and half. And they are cheap and lightweight.

Curt, is this a standard V-mount, will a Red charger work with these?

Yup, no worries there. You can even use ANY "reputable" V-mount charger to charge the batteries, EVEN linked together! How cool is that?

WOW! That's CRAZY impressive! How much are those? V mount or Gold Mount? Do you know the weight? Again, that's impressive!

You can chose between AB mount and V-lock. They also make a special version for RED, which transmits the battery information to the screen. About $400 bucks for the non-RED version. Beware of the long charging times! Overnight charging is not enough.

Voltage : 14.8 V
Full voltage : 17 V
Cutoff voltage : 11 V
Capacity : 230 Wh
Power limit : 100 W
Dimensions excluding mount : 102 x 152 x 63 mm (4.02 x 5.98 x 2.48 in)
Weight approx : 1500 g (3.31 lbs)
Mount type : V-Lock (V-Mount)
Charging time :
- 498 minutes with Globalmediapro SCA2S or SCA4S chargers
- 604 minutes with Globalmediapro SC1 charger

My litle tips: One very important thing about batteries is the maximum load the battery can deliver; If a battery can give a max load of 70wats, the run time for the R1MX will be a lot less than appx 60 mins for a 95Wh battery. In my experience a 95Wh battery that can handle a max load of 70 Watts runs the R1mx for max 30mins. Combine two of them, and they will run the camera for 2 hours + !

Make sure that the battery can deliver at least 80 watts + what ever accessories you have!
