What is the current resale value of a used Scarlet. A person in the thread below has stated that a used Scarlet now only sells for about $5K used. If true, this means that the resale value is less than the $7100 I paid for a Scarlet that hasn't even arrived yet. We know from this past week that RED cameras have resale values that drop like a brick, but even before delivery? This is a discussion of resale value only - not of other values as those that clouded other threads.

What is the current resale value of a used Scarlet?

THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION OF THE R1.

The new scarlet pricing is for the brain only. I purchased a battle tested scarlet that came with the canon mount and SSD side module for about $7,700USD. That camera new would run $11,145 USD after taxes . I saved almost $3,500.... I don't know about you but I'm pumped!

In another thread you were complaining about people asking for the scarlet upgrade/firmware update. Arnold, the red one mx is 4000$ only, that's the new price for a 4.5k 120fps@2k camera. If I had to buy a camera now, I would go for a red one mx. even if i sell it for 2000-2500$ in the future, the lost is negligible. Who would prefer a scarlet over a cheaper more powerful camera? As long as we don't know if the dragon upgrade is possible, or as long as we don't have the same capabilities as the red one mx i guess this will be the resale price for a scarlet. People who don't care much about money will buy an epic, people who do will accept the few drawbacks of the red one over the scarlet one thousands times.

You have me at a disadvantage as I don't know what you're referring to. In any case, it's not the topic here but I'll happily discuss whatever update issue you're talking about in PM.

i think the resale sale value hinges on hours of run time, aka wear/tear. i think the person who said its worth only 5k is a whiner too

I agree. REDONE is awesome. Not sure how the Red Amour works and RED accessories. I read somewhere REDuser bought the BT R1 and accessories for $5.5K or less?

What is the current resale value of a used Scarlet with SSD and Canon Al. We have two votes that it's under $6K, meaning it's worth considerably less than the used Scarlets many bought at the Deal of a Lifetime sale a couple of weeks ago.

There is a big dif between buying from RED BT with a warranty, and buying from a stranger, with no warranty, AND needing to pay 1,000 for transfer of ownership/inspection

ps i dont give a damn what the resale value is, until 4k goes mainstream R1, Scarlet, or Epics are worth their weight in GOLD

The value of a RED-One is that it shoots fantastic images at 4K, and offers 120fps at 2K. All for $4K (body)

There are those who say they prefer its "look" and so on, but lets put personal opinions aside for a second and look at the facts.

A scarlet, Im afraid to say, is worth more, simply because it fits in with the current line of accessories and the modern RED form factor.

The price drop hasn't hit scarlet owners as hard because the hard value of the component accessories has stayed the same and the cost of those accessories make up a much larger percentage of the overall cost of a Scarlet shooting package than the same EPIC kit.

Early buyers also availed of the early price, which was around $11,500 for a Brain,SSD,Mount combo. That price went up, and now its back at the original price. So no complaints there.

I feel the pain of those who have bought Epics recently that may not have made back investment, but you do have to be quick in this game if you're in it just to make money.

Im just hoping this doesn't affect the rental market too hard in the meantime.

peace

The value of my upcoming delivery of the RED Scarlet is....PRICELESS ;)

So much information on other, unrelated subjects, to be sure.

What is current resale value of a used Scarlet with SSD and Canon Al mount?

so what? that doesnt mean i ll sell my BT Scarlet under that price...10,150$ is the new price and i ll drop only 2K$..
if someone sells his scarlet for 4K$ doesnt make scarlet used price under this..

I know that the current Epic owners have met with a lot of derision and abuse for voicing their concerns about the loss in resale value for their camera. Those doing the deriding, frequently with glee, have convinced me with their many, many posts: you should never consider resale value when buying a RED camera because they will tank. The evidence is in and everyone agrees with it.

Still, as old fashioned as I am, what I can sell my Scarlets for is a lingering concern, as upsetting as I know that is to many.

We have three votes for under $6K. Lower than the Deal of a Lifetime sale.

What's the value of your left shoe?

Does it make you feel less creative knowing that your Scarlet has gone down in price?

I dont quite understand the question?

Before Nov 2012, subjects such as this rarely existed.

Now all of a sudden people are questioning their decision.

This isnt a 2013 Corvette :P
