"The first 4K a.k.a Ultra High-Definition TV set went on sale today in the
U.S. Manufactured by LG Electronics USA, the LG 84-inch class (84-inch
diagonal) LED TV was introduced in Southern California today via high-end
retailer Video & Audio Center.

Model 84LM9600 has a native Ultra High-Def screen resolution of 3840 X 2160
and an MSRP of $19,999.99.

Model 84LM9600 delivers four times the level of detail from full 1080p HD
resolution to a 8 million pixels. The TV set is also equipped with a
powerful up-conversion engine - the LG Resolution Upscaler Plus."

That is a 66% price reduction from the 60" 4K Astro just a couple years ago that was $60,000 USD

I remember when a cheap 1080P Projector was $30K.

it has begun!

This is probably the stupidest thing you could spend your money on.

WOW. Mine was $1350. Glad I am young, it saves a few bucks too. What year was that btw?

These would be worse:

1. http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/index.php?t=product/sony_f35
2. Helping Romney get into the White House.
3. A long-term real estate project in the Maldives.

This would actually be a good purchase for a production company's reception. Projectors are likely to be too dim and it gives you 6 months of wow factor before the post-2013 NAB glut of 4K TVs show up.

This is probably the stupidest thing you could spend your money on.

I disagree. You could buy the 85" SONY 4K UltraHD TV. It's $24,999.95. That would be more stupider. :)

In 1998 I actually contemplated buying the first Pioneer DVD recorder for $20k. Blank discs were $40 each. Now DVD recorders are well under $40 and discs are well under 40¢!

OK, I bought a 1T storage at 2000 for 40K$... Since when I feel afraid to buy any expensive computer things no matter what.
