Hi there,

How do I attach a mattebox (with rod support) to the 82mm front diameter of my still lenses?

I'm not able to find the right adapter. In case it exists.

Thanks

I want to get the Bright Tangerine VIV.

I don't want to clamp the mattebox onto the lens.
Since I have a rod support I just want to 'slide' the lens into the mattebox if that makes sense.

The Bright Tangerine VIV uses a 150mm clamp or a 138 donut, so that is the size step adaptor you're after (I think?) The Chroziel ring I recommended doesn't come in that size though. It might take a combo of two step rings to get the job done.
Sorry I couldn't help more than that, good luck!

You'll want to use a rubber donut, Andy. Bright Tangerine has these. They/their distributors can probably help you pick the one you need for this setup.

I used to use a Chroziel mattebox with an 85mm step down ring with 82mm still lenses. Just get the BT dealer to help you get from 150mm down to 85mm and you are golden.

Bright Tangerine is a "newer" company. When they first came out all they had was 90, 95, 110, and 114mm rings. I've explained that due to new lenses and different types of shooting they need more rings... so now 85mm, 86mm, 87mm, 98mm, 136mm, etc. are being manufactured and should be available in about 6 weeks. I will have them by then.

In the meantime, I suggest one of two things: either get yourself some 82-95mm step up rings, then get a UV filter in 95mm (so it has some girth) or use a rubber/neoprene donut like these: http://www.filmtools.com/donuts.html. This will block the unwanted light...

BTW: as Trevor and a few others would attest... I don't recommend using the clamp on feature of VIV when using still lenses... your lightweight support rod use is an excellent idea!

Since you're in Germany, I guess you're going through GeckoCam? They should be able to help! If not circle back, I'll do what I can for you!

Thanks guys.

82-95mm rings on each lens is one option but I don't want to buy 7 rings and 7 filters.

I just found out that Arri makes screw in rings from 114mm to anything.
They recommend the 82mm size for my still lenses with 82mm filter thread but I feel like I need the 85mm size for that.
