how do you guys like it. Don't mention Tokina 11-16. I already have it and sold it... Only reason I sold it is that it doesn't have manual aperture.

Acceptable plus on full frame. A notch and half above acceptable on a super 35 sensor, where the disotrtion and edge softness is minimized. Long focus throw, close focus to 12" or less. And of course you can't beat the price.

I once owned it ...... Can't remove 'petal sun hood' so no go on MB's. Witness marks bear no relation what so ever to actual focus distances. Apart from that its a good lens for $$$. As noted its a manual f stop which can easily be de-clicked by removing a ball bearing . Not quite as sweet as the Canon 14mm but same speed for significantly less dollars. This is a full frame 35mm still lens.

I kept the Tokina instead.

[SUB]It's super great for the price but has gobs of mustache distortion. It's almost ridiculous. Super sharp, though, and decent build quality.

The Tokina 11-16mm is my preference, too, and unless you're going FF I'd never consider the Samyang over it. Though it's sharper and has less CA, the distortion is a killer. On APS-C it has more manageable barrel distortion so that's easier to fix in post than the horrible mustache distortion at least, but still what a pain! For canted angles and shots of nature, it's a pretty fun wide lens, but once straight lines show up it's not so friendly.

My preference for full frame is the 14mm f2.8 L II. The corners are very soft, but lines are perfectly straight. Wonderful lens for the 5D in particular. Not as nice for stills.

I would love to have the Tokina again. However, is there a way I can attach something like an aperture ring so I can manually adjust the aperture?

Link to the Nikon tokina 11-16mm? They are ready available as the canon versions. You will need to get a compatible Nikon adapter like the optitek to control aperture.

is optitek for Red only or can I use it on DSLR also?
